Wasn't sure which forum to place this in--'Political Madness' or the 'General Conspiracy' forum

Being as this probably won't ever happen--fingers crossed-- I figured it sounded more like a theory than fact
MODS please move if need be...

I've always respected Mr.Carson and appreciate his candor, many of his comments people can relate to regardless of their political affiliation

This came out in an interview with Chris Wallace where he clearly and humbly states what is wrong with our country and why he feels this way regarding the 2016 election...

Source

"It is possible, said Carson, “because you have to recognize we have a rapidly increasing national debt, a very unstable financial foundation, and you have all of these things gong on, like the ISIS crisis, that could very rapidly change things that are going on in our nation. And unless we begin to deal with these things in a comprehensive way and a logical way, there’s no telling what could happen in just a matter of a couple of years, and particularly in a situation where we have a Senate and a Senate leader who has over 300 bills sitting on his desk, [who] will not bring them to the floor for a vote.”

He described that as thwarting the will of the people and instead of having government conform to the people, having the people conform to the “will of the government”

I do believe that the same was said during the Bush presidency at one time or other concerning him remaining pres. more than the 2 terms, so this is nothing new, but for someone like Carson to come right out and say this was kinda out there IMO

Interesting: I do not see why they would cancel the elections if they are already rigged for a POTUS ? Unless it is a WW3 type scenario... Amazing how many people are playing the same tune about the economy, police state and the government...S^F

If they can't contain and control the coming massive financial collapse, this could happen.

The current political atmosphere is possibly the worst in history.

Corruption and wild jealousy runs rampant at the highest level in history.

All in power are trembling at the very thought of losing power.

The U.S. is at the most dangerous point in history.

I can believe that you have always respected Mr. Carson and appreciate his candor, but do you actually believe that many beyond the far right fringe can relate to his claim that the election will be suspended?

This is absurd and ridiculous.

I believe it's ridiculous as well
There would be total uprising from ALL peoples in a SHTF scenario such as this--or at least I hope there would be

As I said, if I'm not mistaken--which I may be-- similar statements were made while Bush was in office

Carson did make some very good valid points regarding the state our country is in, but think he should have stopped while he was ahead and stayed away from making such an outlandish speculation
[let's just hope he's not psychic!! LOL]

Every election cycle this comes up.

But never, in my long and aged life, has someone that I respect so highly ever stated something like this.

Perhaps this should go into the predictions forum, in my humble.

Though to be frank, this current administration usurping power would not come as a surprise.

He's definitely not the first one to ponder whether this may become a reality or not.

There are MANY people that feel Obama will do whatever he can to continue his stay in the White House. I can see him trying his best, but that doesn't mean it will happen.

I don't think he would be too broke up about it if the elections were delayed though... Gift horse, mouth, and all that.

I can't see it happening.

MAYBE if we had a President with a higher approval rating it could possible happen.

But with this President? There is no national crisis great enough to stop the waves of rebellion that would come crashing against him if he tried staying in Office a day longer than he is allotted.

I did mention to Diderot that I hoped Carson wasn't psychic

Although with this administration, being as it seems anything goes where they are concerned, I'm not quite sure what to expect out of the next 2 years, other than more of nothingness

I'm used to previous administrations formulating their actions and then give a speech regarding the issues at hand

This administration does it azz backwards
Obama gives a great BS speech and then his advisers are running around trying to play catch up with his words hence why there are many so-called 'miscommunications' amongst his people
They are clearly NOT on the same page

Think that's why his words and his actions don't jive half the time

Cook Anarchy and Ebola together and you might not have elections in 2016. What Obama needs for third term ? If elections are hold 50k signatures and support from Congress and House of Representatives.. can anyone see this happening in US? What is needed is crippled nation.

Hey after 2016 he gets to play golf all he wants without all the pesky national security briefs and mandatory meetings . A full blown pension most could only dream for and a full time security attachment at his beck and call... I bet he is counting the days ! I always wondered why he kept looking at the door ?

Boy, aren't we a ray of sunshine?! LOL

Scary thought just the same

Doesn't seem it would take much to push our nation into the 'crippled-handicap' category with the path we are on right now

Just read about a man who came from Liberia to Texas and is supposedly infected with Ebola
We sure as hell don't need that kind of panic/fear to set in with the public

'State of Fear'--best way to control the populous

You may have misheard the interview, I do that myself.

do you actually believe that many beyond the far right fringe can relate to his claim that the election will be suspended?

This is absurd and ridiculous.

You're quite right. If he had said that, it would have been a very extreme statement. However:

“I hope that that is not going to be the case. But certainly there is the potential,”

There is nothing absurd or ridiculous about that statement. The potential does exist. I'll agree that it's not likely, but he's certainly not claiming it will happen.

As with other posters, at this moment, he's got me far more impressed than any other person mentioned as a possible candidate.

Thank you for clarifying that for us...

" But certainly there is the potential,”

Yes, that there IS an accurate statement being as our country certainly does have the 'potential' right now

This from the man who said that America was very much like Nazi Germany and that Obamacare was the worst thing since slavery, called abortion "human sacrifice" and compares homosexuality to pedophilia and bestiality? Oooo-kay, Ben. You can go take your nap, now...

You have to remember that most conservatives aren't so extreme. And if he gets out there spouting his nonsense on his way to the White House, he will be ripped apart for his rhetoric by the left and the right. And that's exactly what this is. More extreme rhetoric from a Tea Party nutball. He's just trying to scare people. NOTHING has stopped the elections in this country and it's not going to stop now...

This is the kind of rhetorical recklessness that convinces many Americans that Republican leaders are extreme, irresponsible, and fundamentally unserious. These sorts of comments have an acidic effect on the reputation of a party and a movement.

Dr. Carson has no chance of winning the GOP presidential nomination. The danger for Republicans, however, is that if he runs for the presidency he’ll be given a rather large platform to share his musings. And let’s be clear: Dr. Carson’s comments are evidence of a political mind that is not simply undisciplined but also fanatical. (It doesn’t help that when given a chance to repudiate his initial comments, he invariably defends them.) These are the kinds of thing one would expect to hear from the fringes of American politics. Any political party or movement that is associated with such utterances will pay a price.

How Ben Carson’s Rhetoric Threatens the GOP

I can't wait to hear what he says next!

I don't know... when I look at Obama, it seems to me that he cannot wait to get out and get on with his life. The LAST thing he wants to do is prolong this misery.

The following is my opinion as a member participating in this discussion.

Well ... a massive Ebola outbreak WOULD cause elections to be put off. There would be anarchy. Not all analysts can agree with what will happen with this Ebola thing. Only time will tell.

For decades both democrats and republicans have been concerned about elections being put off because of disaster or political shenanigans by the other party. Bush41, Clinton, Bush43, Obama ... Folks have 'predicted' no elections for one reason or other, and in each case they've been wrong. I expect that the 2016 elections will happen as planned ...

That being said - I"m going over my prep'd supplies and making sure we can hold up for a three month quarantine ... just in case.

As an ATS Staff Member, I will not moderate in threads such as this where I have participated as a member.

Ben Carson does seem to say some pretty dumb things, but I suppose we all have a tendency to do the same.

I was hopeful that a true conservative would step forth to bring some sanity back to the Republican party, but he turned out to be just another nutbag.

I remember he compared Obamacare to slavery and threw out the "socialist" card......and then denied that he made such a comparison.

He's no different than any of the other boobs on the right that will do nothing but talk a good game.
