Today, I saw, on national television, a woman called Theresa May, stand up in front of the Conservative Party, and make extremists out of basically anyone who has a strong opinion, by way of a series of policy changes that she suggests would be helpful to the police when it comes time to prosecute in matters of extremism and "soft terror" what ever that is. The tactic of painting legislation in broad terms, so that none who are deserving of the touch of the long arm of the law might be able to escape it, is not a new one. But laws so poorly written end up touching people that they have no business touching.

In this case, her new policy alterations, including a resurrected 'Snoopers Charter', would be ostensibly aimed at further combating terrorism, by outlawing completely certain groups, and certain forms of speech, even those which are not technically in breech of current legislation. These would include the sort used by the EDL and some other truly choice bastards, so all good then, yeah? No.

By extending the net as she intends to, she will also sweep up every person who has ever uttered a word against the government, and would also be straight up outlawing two legitimate political entities, these being the socialist, and communist political entities which exist in the UK. Now, some UK members of this website might be thinking, "Sounds right as rain to me" upon hearing this news, but from what she said, from the terminology that she used, it rather seems as if anyone who plans a demonstration which goes against the government, anyone who wants to protest, march in the street, hold a sign, or even utter an opinion online, could be in breech of her amended policies.

Those of you who have interacted with me on these boards, I would hope, are aware that I am neither a chest beating xenophobe, nor a limp and feeble pacifist, but that I do hold some very strong opinions about a range of topics pertaining to my country, its government, and the plight of both it's working poor, and indeed those who are not even fortunate enough to be a part of that end of the social strata. You will also know, that the views I hold about the way I think things ought to be done, could be considered somewhat unorthodox by modern democratic standards, and indeed that sometimes I find it difficult to see how setting everything from the southern shore of these isles, to the northern most end of the country on fire, would be worse than living under what amounts to a tyranny.

By her new measure, I am an extremist! And yet I love my country, I love its people, I love freedom, justice, honour, respect, equality. I want to live in a country ruled by its people, not by a ministry of the minority, I want to live in a country which defends its weakest and upholds them, where the rich understand their place is as a bastion for the poor, not as their overlords. I want to live in a country where the people are above all other things, free, one in which liberty is not compromised, not even in the face of a threat one can see without being told where to look.

This makes me, by the broader definitions that Theresa May wants to use, an extremist.

I am incandescent with rage about this, which probably helps my plight in this matter not one whit, but I am a passionate man, and this has inflamed my passions in a most comprehensive fashion. You see, this affects, I would have thought, a great many of the Brits here on ATS, and indeed all of those who are involved in alternative political organisations, activities, and alternative political thought across the board in the British Isles.

I will grant you, that the measures she proposes might well be effective against the really dangerous radicals, both Muslim, and White Supremacist alike, and for all I care, both those groups can have the flesh of their face set on fire. But if there is even a chance that anyone who is not a violent extremist could be slapped with a sentence for being present during a "public disturbance" (one of many vague terms I have heard bandied about in the news media today in relation to this) then these bits of extra legislation need to be thrown out, cut up, cremated, reconstituted, and then burned again!

I simply do not trust her motivations one iota, and I would urge all of you UK ATSers, to write to your representatives in parliament, and have them slap this half witted Thatcherite cow upside the head. Oh and, you know, vote this down as well, obviously!

I must admit I was slightly baffled as to how she thinks 'British Values' will conquer 'extremism'.

We're going to invade, slaughter the natives, and claim their countries for the Queen?

Because I vaguely recall that it was doing something like that in Iraq and Afghanistan that has gotten the Middle East into this godawful mess in the first place.

Well, the foreign policy decisions made by our government in the last decade or so, have been uniformly of a poor standard, to say the very least of it.

However, the changes Theresa May wants to make to our nations laws, have no place in a nation where there exists an enshrined right to free speech, freedom of movement and association, let alone a nation which has sought to install such political structures in other nations, and lambasted leaders and governments around the world who have failed to install such freedom into their own nations paradigm.

I find the whole situation to smack of hypocrisy, and her recent comments to be tyrannical in their aspect. Such changes as she would make, would make most of my commentary here on this webiste, including the contents of this thread so far, illegal, or at the very least, grounds to render me an acceptable subject for increased scrutiny, under the new powers she proposes. This, as I am sure you can appreciate, is deeply troubling on many levels.

This observation is possibly the most terrifying thing I have pondered, and now, through your post, has come to life. Not in China, nor in Russia, as one would expect, but in your living room.

There it is. Right there. She is saying it with words everyone can understand. Everything you said online is going to be documented and used against you, by beezelbub, and that is only the beginning, and this little power slut will lead the charge.

This one's not at all shy about her lusts, is she.

I dare say she just made a grave mistake. Take her out, and now. Take them all out! I advise looking into this person's life with an electron microscope. I don't know who she is, what she looks like, or how she became elected as a representative, but I know a tyrant toon when I see one. She needs to go, now.

In the states, we only hear stuff like this through the zionist media creatures, not the pols, because there are still too many guns, frankly, and typically the media use cunning stealth, misdirection, and guile-all in synch with the staged false flags, of course, as ice breakers- in order to make the legislation come forth as a poo that simply slides from the anus of our masters, and onto our plates.

I have been monitoring the media creatures as they frolic in their playpens for as long as I can remember. I am aware of their tactics, their planning, their delivery, and the inflections in their voices which they are told to use. The past year all the voices are using a sort of 'forced happy' sound that breaks up on rising pitches which is supposed to make us think of comfort food. This voice is being used on everything. Commercials. Sad stories, mad stories, everything. Two years ago they were forcing a "hawkey" pronunciation for "hockey" on us. "Don" was made to sound like "Dawn". I don't think the graft was unsuccessful, and it seems they dropped trying to make all of their whores adopt the inflection. Voices are something I am pretty good with, because I have good hearing senses. Usually I listen to things that really cannot be talked about around here, and when I switch on a tele screen, it is child's play to cut right to the heart of the speaker's intent.

I am grateful that you took time to speak up. To the vast majority of slaves, the TV is accepted as 'the way things are'. One dosen't argue against what technofascist zionism wants, see. In fact, I don't think anyone can even see it anymore. The messages within are too grim to remain consciously aware of, naturlich. They aren't running things for nothing.

But you discerned the heart of it, took the time to alert us, and it is reminding me of the thousands of similar examples bookmarked in my brain, taken from amerikan broadcasts. Eventually, I tuned to a different 'station', a sound qu'on ne pronounce pas, because what I saw was killing me. I had no choice. I was alive, and this bastard thing called kontrol was bringing me down hard, so I quit 'watching' TV, and began a strict regiment of monitoring it. Hearing lies spoken as truth will destroy one's discernment. But to see it for what it is, well, that's different; instead, one's discernment is strengthened, and this brings up your main point. What this lady is saying is that you will not see it for 'what it is', but what it is that we tell you it is! Under penalty of law! You will allow us to weaken your discernment, your survival senses, all of it that is 'you', because that is our goal and…what would happen if 'you' all suddenly decide instead to grow strong by seeking out the truth and calling us liars….I think you get a whiff of their fear, just as you were supposed to dream nightmares, or nothing at all, based on Theresa May's words. Nothing creeps across that screen that isn't loaded for bear, and I mean everything.

Excellent catch. The source…your senses. I'll buy that one.

No other way to say it. I cannot look at your avatar, but knowing that one sees the fine print as you do, and in responding to you, I've managed to shake a headache and now can sleep. Thanks.

Not inclined to tell people how to vote...

But go with Labour my friend...
It's the only way to stop this wench from progressively attacking anyone she deems fit...

She has too much power...
I don't think conservatives are all bad...
But she is a bad egg & it's a damn shame we have a population that has to put up with her bull# despite the fact we didn't vote her in...
Out of the 35-40% that did vote Tory...
Another 60-65% didn't...

This is not a democratic land...
It's a corporate whore...

& she is the biggest warmonger in power right now...

I'll be voting labour anyways!!!

I share your sentiments about this situation TWK, I really do.

I am deeply concerned not only for myself and the effects that these new legal angles might have on the consequences of my participation in political discussion, but also for the effect it will have on our democracy as a nation. Is it possible for democracy to function, to exist, when its parameters are defined by whomever is in power, rather than those who oppose them? Is it possible for democracy to exist when alternatives to the existing structure, and those who advocate for positive change, are at as much risk of being considered outlaws, as those who seek wanton chaos and carnage?

I believe that democracy cannot exist in any nation which holds such draconian power over its citizenry, as exemplified by Theresa May's comments, and considering how much was sacrificed in times gone by, to ensure that this nations population had the freedoms they have enjoyed up until now, I find myself firm in the belief that these changes she wishes to impose on us, are an intolerable insult to the memory of those sacrificed on the altar of war, to poverty, to those who fought through to create a welfare state to provide for those the government used so poorly in decades past.

Everything about this situation smells like jackboot leather to me, and I cannot accept it.

I think I will have to next time as well, even though I despise the smallest atom of them for what they have done to the Labour movement in the last decade and a half. Who would have thought, twenty years ago, or even less, that Eton boys would be running the party? It makes no sense to represent the working poor, by way of installing entitled rich kids, who are as familiar with hard work, as I am with Krug champagne and caviar!

But you are right to say that the only way to avoid a Conservative majority, is to ensure a Labour one. I despair, I really do.

I'm with you my friend...
Really it's New Labour... & we know that's equal to Conservative...
It may mean no EU referendum, but I'd rather fix the NHS first...
If only vote to stay with Europe anyways so it's no biggie to me personally...

But to save the NHS & stop these freedoms being demolished it seems the only choice we have...

Sure we could go LibDem, Green or Respect...

But we know they won't win in a million years...

I hope to make the best of a bad situation!

a reply to: CharlieSpeirsYep, I worked out the figures...

Out of country of 63 million, we are governed by a party voted in by 14 million. Certainly not the wishes of the vast majority of the country.

Something is wrong somewhere.

Maths bit = 63% turnout, of which 36% were tory votes = 14 million.

In Scotland we have SNP which has taken the space vacated by old Labour. After watching Labour and Conservative hug each other all the way through the Referendum a lot of people here are turning to SNP. The SNP membership has more than doubled since referendum day. Perhaps SNP should field candidates in England.

Actually it's a lot lower, I forgot to take into account the percentage of population ineligible to vote...

According to the Office for National Statistics and the Northern Ireland Electoral Office, the electorate for the 2010 general election will be 46 million .

So that brings the number down to just over 10 million.

That's a country with a population of 63 million governed by 6.3% vote.... scandalous.

Indeed it is!

Just one of the many reasons to totally disregard this parliament as one formed entirely outside the democratic process, and purely for the benefit of parties other than the people of the United Kingdom of Great Britain!

What galls me, is that despite having had no mandate from the people to even from a government, the Conservative party, and particularly Theresa May, think that it is appropriate to begin to formulate the most insulting, poorly crafted, widely effective assault on freedom of speech, enacted against our nations citizens for some considerable time.

These people must be re-educated as to their place in society, that is, to serve, not to be served, and to live under our law and moral guidance, not to enforce theirs on us.
