Hispanics' Approval of Obama Down Since '12

A recent Gallop poll is showing support for Obama is dropping among Hispanics.

Conclusions say it's because of immigration policies in general.

I imagine it's split between pro-amnesty and pro-Legal immigration.

But I think some issues of Obama acting aside from Congress vs with Congress has an influence.

Some people might be losing faith in Congress as well.

If I am reading this correctly, support for Obama in this poll is only 3 points below the average during his entire presidency. I'm not a statistician, so is 3 points significant?

Overall, I can see why support may be dropping. He is not very popular overall and he is on his way out.

I'm not seeing the "3%".

Like I said, I may be looking at this wrong, but wouldn't that mean that his approval rating is only 3 points lower than the average?

It looks like, to me, that they are saying his approval rate is 10 points higher than the average with Hispanics.
In other words, the national average is ten points lower than Hispanics in their approval rating. Here is the sub-title to the poll:

In U.S., 52% of Hispanics approve, compared with 42% of all adults

Sooo...??? Not sure why this is a talking point. It's pretty thin, as is the number of percentage points "dropped."

The point I was trying to understand was that the Hispanic average above the rest of the nation went from 13% to 10%, correct?

3% points. Yep. So, to flip it, they still approve 10% more than the general population, instead of 13% more.

I dunno. Sounds like a pretty minimal downgrade, and the main point I was trying to make, was that it is still 10% better than the average. Heck, Obama's approval rating is down overall from the end of 2012, but it is not that much different than it was at the beginning of 2012. What I find most interesting is the language of the article - weird to be making any kind of deal out of this at all. It is still 4% points higher than its lowest point among Hispanics in 2011.

So. ??? Weird article, perhaps with a partisan bent from a supposedly neutral polling agency????

I am a naturalized Hispanic citizen who entered the country legally, a gun owner, in favor of marriage equality under the law, a die hard capitalist, a gun owner, a soldier, a fiscal conservative, against the war on drugs, corporate welfare, and socialism.

There are many, many like me that don't fit in to the liberal notion of what Hispanics are supposed to be like.

No, there is no "below average" in that post, but it did drop 3 points from the high point of Hispanic support which was 13 points above average.

And yet 3 points can make a difference in an election. Here with only about 7000 residents one of our city commissioner candidates lost by only a few votes.

I hope they wake up completely and abandon Obama altogether. I suspect that the illegals are seeing things more like the naturalized citizens are.

It wouldn't surprise me if illegals are for having a secure border, once they got here and began to understand there is an agenda for having them. I don't think they would approve of being used, even as a new voter base for the Democrats.

They will enjoy some benefits early on, but once they are full fledged U.S. prisoners, er, I mean citizens, it will be too late for them and they probably see that coming down the pike. Getting in wasn't easy for them, but I suspect that if they decide to go back, it will be much harder to do.

I dont think Obama really cares at this point.
