Did a search and didn't find anything. Here goes: Russia is now warning Europe that it may cancel Gas supplies because some countries have been re-exporting fuel to Kiev during the conflict between Ukraine and Russia. Russia is not bowing to the sanctions exerted by the US and some European countries and is instead coming down on Ukraine even harder.

Berlin (AFP) - Russia warned Europe on Friday that it may cut off gas supplies because some countries have been re-exporting supplies to Ukraine to help Kiev through its latest energy war with Moscow. The blunt threat came as energy chiefs gathered in Berlin for EU-mediated talks aimed at halting a Russian gas supply freeze to Ukraine that could leave parts of the war-scarred nation without heat this winter.

It's a strategic game right now between Russia and the West, and the dividing line between resolution and all out war is paper thin. One false move with the Ukraine situation could lead to a conflict that no one wants. What says ATS?

And to add to the mix, Hungary is voicing concerns over Russian threats to cut off supplies because it gets over 60% of its gas from Gazprom, Russia oil/ gas distributor.

If you live in Europe, better start stockpiling some firewood.

This is a great tactic by Russia, if it succeeds. What better way to make it politically impossible for the leaders in Western Europe to continue their agenda than by freezing their citizens to death? Come January, the people will be demanding a reversal of whatever policies got them into that ice locker in the first place.

What's worse is it will lead to bickering and in-fighting between European countries. Smart move, Russia.

It might work in the short term... The flip side is it will push Europe farther into the anti putin camp and the resolve to remove Russia as an energy source will quicken.

Gas / Oil is the only thing bringing in revenue for Russia in terms of being able to update their military. You start losing customers it will be difficult to find replacements.

I assumed you knew more than what you do. My bad.

You do understand energy generation encompasses areas beyond oil / gas right? Coal and nuclear can be expanded. While you play your games you fail to understand the big picture.

Europe will move to alternative energy sources to lessen their reliance on Russia as a supply source. The more aggressive Russia gets, the faster that departure will be.

The dollar is not bringing in revenue...

The dollar is a currency and the bulk is used to purchase / sell items of value, both internally and externally. Our economy is not dependent on weapons sales and to assume it is both naïve and ignorant.

Believe me i know more on the oil subject as i had being following before becoming a member on ATS, such subjects what me made join this ATS which has risks when you have debate other issues though.

Europe will move to alternative energy sources to lessen their reliance on Russia as a supply source. The more aggressive Russia gets, the faster that departure will be.

Europe's alternative energy sources are these four main pointers which i had being looking into back in 2005.
But it seems Qatar Gas wont help Europe as much.

Qatar says it won't do much to help Europe get rid of gas dependence on Russia

Wealthy gas producer Qatar has no plans to pitch in as an alternative supplier as Europe seeks to reduce its reliance on Russian gas, Doha's energy minister told a German newspaper Tuesday.

Europe had several choices, and no corn gas wont do the job as for fusion that would be at least that will not occur until the end of oil.

The more aggressive America/Gulf regime gets, the faster that departure will be.

There you go fixed that one for you Xcathdra. Russia isn't the one whose being aggressive just look around east Asia to.
Its your country that has being aggressive towards others including the people in GAZA.

there is a fairly large flaw in that theory and that would be it takes time for that kind of change...passing legislation ,building more power stations etc....what do the people do for warmth in the mean time ?

Actually it is America's since it had created the chaos in the 70s its economy your economy has being dependent on weapons sale from the Black market thats why your country hired black gun mercenaries in Libya, right Xcathdra?

America has being black guns since the 70s. That says that your country is indeed dependent on arm sales.

It's time for the adolescent, knee-jerk rhetoric from both sides - but particularly from Western leaders - to stop.

What ever happened to diplomacy? Diplomatic talks?

Russia wants something, the West disagrees. Let's talk it through!

I believe a good diplomatic compromise would be the partitioning of eastern Ukraine.

It's obvious Russia wants a buffer zone.

Then they can create one using their own territory.

Just because they want it does not mean surrounding nations must be required to comply. Those nations have every right to want their own buffer against Russian aggression.

and once again you fail to understand that the other side of the coin during the cold war was Russia / USSR doing the very same thing.

Your point?

Once again your wrong is that what the education system taught you? that it was during the cold war was Russia / USSR doing the very same thing? i think it might be.

Your country has a lot to learn before it preach the world on what they should have and what laws to impose.

I could say the same for your country thats meddling in affairs of many countries in Europe and Middle east why dont you go back and start fixing up your broken nation before your country can dictate others.

After all its fair that America learns its lesson.

Those nations have every right to want their own buffer against American aggression.
There you go.

Yes the USSR was around during the cold war and had its own foreign policies goals. It used weapons sales to further those goals, just like the US did.

Open a history book once in a while would you. Had it not been for the USSR there would have been no cold war since there would not have been an adversary. The same applies to the US during the same time period.

Which is nice but doesn't deal with that I stated. If Russia wants a buffer they can use their own territory. Invading a sovereign nation because Putin is paranoid does not work.
