My daughter's name was the only one all through her school years even though her name is a very common one in Scotland.

But it did make it easy any time I called the school... I only had to say her first name and they instantly new who I was talking about.

I find that when walking down a street in Scotland hoi you with the hair on you're head [ i kid you not ] seems to get most peoples attention

my cell phone [mobile] has

6 Dave's [NO surname ]
4 david s ditto

dozens of rob ,robert, robby ,jim,jimmy Ann, Anne all with no surname added when i was in a hurry or slightly drunk

Dougal was a joke name 35 years ago for me if i did not know someones name i used to shout hoi dougal and got their attention because it was so unusual ,i even called my collie dog it Mr Dougal D Ma collie then everyone started using it ,dougals everywhere now


lucky i did not have children You boy would have been on the birth certificate could be worse a boy named Sue or Jesse
