Silly Dave !
British Prime Minister David Cameron has been caught in front of cameras and on mic telling ex-New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg that the Queen "purred" when informed of the Independence referendum result ........ Purred ? , what like a cat ?

Mr Cameron, whose Conservative Party campaigned for such an outcome, discussed the matter with Mr Bloomberg as he walked around the Bloomberg building in New York. Recalling that he had called the Queen to say "it's all right", he said: "She purred down the line. I've never heard someone so happy."

Purred ?

And there you go again. People have tried to put you correct you in other threads when you start blabbering on that the Queen is German. She's not. Try to take people's advice, else people won't bother with what you say. It's not clever.

Anyway. To topic. This is a bot of a breach of etiquette as the PM is not supposed to reveal what goes on in his discussions with the Queen, unless he was in fact talking to the Royal Pussy (cat). I doubt the Queen will be overly impressed by the comment.

Regards

Cameron is an Etonian and all that comes with that.

It is a literary term, does it need being on C4 news?

www.macmillandictionary.com...

[INTRANSITIVE/TRANSITIVE] MAINLY LITERARY to speak in a quiet low voice that sounds happy or attractive
'Choose a romantic piece of music,' she purred.

No, you are incredibly dense. You are basing it on of Prince Albert the husband of Queen Victoria, two centuries ago.

You start another thread on this, rather than hijacking discussions not concerned with your theories. However, just to say that because someone has German ancestors does not make them German. I am not Welsh. Your assertions are trivial and not relevant to the OP. Praise be to God, and all that.
