AUSTRALIA has received a direct threat from Islamic State fighters in a chilling new video recording, which the government believes is genuine.

The 42-minute propaganda video, which has been circulated on social media, urges Muslims to launch attacks on civilians in a number of countries including France, Australia and Canada, Canadian Broadcasting Corporation News reported.
The audio, which is in Arabic but translated in an 11-page document online, calls on Muslims everywhere to attack anyone involved in the US-led coalition against it.

In the video, which has been uploaded to Twitter, IS spokesman Abu Muhammad al-Adnani said Muslims should kill “disbelievers” in countries that support “in any manner” the military action against the group in Iraq.

“If you can kill a disbelieving American or European — especially the spiteful and filthy French — or an Australian, or a Canadian, or any other disbeliever from the disbelievers waging war, including the citizens of the countries that entered into a coalition against the Islamic State … kill him in any manner or way however it may be,” Adnani is heard saying, according to the translated document.

“Do not ask for anyone’s advice and do not seek anyone’s verdict. Kill the disbeliever whether he is civilian or military, for they have the same ruling.”

Islamic State urges Muslims to kill Australian ‘unbelievers’

Are Western governments exploiting these messages to the fullest extent possible for propaganda reasons? Or is Islamic State (IS) a genuine worldwide threat that needs to be dealt with by the international community? While I try to maintain a fair and balanced view on the situation, I cannot help but think that the Australian Government is dragging the country into an unnecessary war and relies on propaganda such as this to legitimise war. Here are a few of the extracts from the article that ring alarm bells off in my head.

1)

Australia is mentioned three times throughout the translated document including the line where he asks followers why Australia is getting involved in Iraq.
“What threat do you pose to the distant place of Australia for it to send its legions towards you?”

2)

“We are also updating counterterrorism legislation to strengthen our agencies’ capability to prevent and disrupt domestic security threats and we are preparing to contribute to international efforts to disrupt and degrade ISIL terrorists.”

3)

He added that Australia had been a target of terrorist organisations in the past, including from al-Qaeda and its offshoots, “because we are free, pluralist, tolerant, welcoming and accepting”.

“ISIL will claim that our involvement in this international effort is the reason they are targeting us, but these people do not attack us for what we do, but for who we are and how we live,” he said.

What are your views when it comes to IS, the Middle East and terrorism?

it is so scary.

I sharpened my kitchen knives today and even had one near me in case I was attacked by these extremists.

a man who looked like a Muslim walked past my house and I was ready, just in case.
Can't have guns in AU so my big butcher knife should protect me. My Son is away hunting at the moment so I am here all by my wee self.

There are Muslims living in my neighborhood.

I take it with a grain of salt, it's just more fear porn.

Having said that, IF an ISIS member were to harm or kill Australians in Australia I guarantee the Middle East will not know what the hell hit them. We Aussies are a laid back mob, we joke, we laugh and we help each other as neighbours - whatever you do though DO NOT PISS US OFF or we will turn the Middle East into a sheet of glass.

Anyhoo, just 2 cents from an Aussie.

Yeah why is it always civillians they target not the politicians that are sending & funding the people that are fighting to stop IS? clearly thats what has suddenly put their focus on us so why aren't they going after them?

Instead its all this massive threat at civillians like, the media & government is going on and on about how a terror attack will happen here anytime and constantly reminding us of the severity of the sotuation it is fear mongering! its like they are trying to push for civil unrest and they want us to be anxious and scared and not want to leave our houses, thats how they will gain more control over us, if this is the case then their plan seems like its working.

Indeed... they must be attacking us because our freedoms. LOL does anyone actually believe that old line anymore? Australia is now more at threat of a terrorist attack than any point in history, and it's clearly because we are taking part in this international effort against ISIS. Obviously when you declare war against a group of people, that group will retaliate. This isn't rocket science.

Proof this is western propaganda please.

I admit that the MSM adds unnecessary rhetoric, for example australian media is singling out australia in the headlines, Canada is singling out Canadians in their headlines, that's expected of them.

But that's not what you're talking about is it? You think the audio is fake, right?

“We are also updating counterterrorism legislation to strengthen our agencies’ capability to prevent and disrupt domestic security threats

this here is what needs to be looked out for. all these events being propagated in the media have underlying motives, and if the majority of them were allowed to come to a head, there would be a justification for the removal of rights and freedoms if the majority sees fit.

I heard on the news a few nights ago that we're getting our own version of the Patriot Act. Good times.

BINGO!
Our prime minister, you know that wanker with big ears? He spoke of Australian need to endure lesser freedoms for the sake of security, it was during parliment question time today.

Regrettably, for some time to come, Australians will have to endure more security than we're used to, and more inconvenience than we'd like.
Regrettably, for some time to come, the delicate balance between freedom and security may have to shift.
There may be more restrictions on some so that there can be more protections for others.
After all, the most basic freedom of all is the freedom to walk the streets unharmed and to sleep safe in our beds at night.

What scares the bejesus out of me is that Fat Abbott is using this 'terrorist threat' to remove some of our freedoms as Australians in favour of more security. Now where have we heard that before?

HE comes from the same generation as my father (in fact the similarities between my father and Fat Abbott are astounding), and it seems that my father and his generation think they look good in glorified undies, and that they must be 'ladies men' because they are showing their ballsacks off.

Bingo ..Politicians are law makers .They get paid to make laws and pass legislation .These people over there are so desperate because of the west meddling in their homes they are willing to say anything .Gerald Celente says when you loose every thing and you have nothing left to loos ,you loose it . The CIA covert ,the US overt , and other partners have been destabilizing and murdering all peoples over there and then telling us we have to do something to stop them ..If Saudis and other local countries want to support ISIS or go after them then that is their business . If any country over there wants to go to war with one of their neighbors then that is between them .I live in the west and what I am concerned with is what is happening at home not my neighbor half way around the world .

If they cut the oil supply off then great .No need to pass carbon taxes because the less oil we can get the less we will burn .

Just curious.

Exactly what 'freedoms' are they planning on taking away from you?

Do you think there is a genuine threat of terrorist act against Australia from IS sympathisers etc?

Do you think Australia should just ignore what's going on in Iraq / Syria and allow IS to continue to grow in power and influence.

Do you think Australia should just turn a blind eye to the slaughter and injustice?

Genuine questions.
