As I have demonstrated in a series of threads lately, I interpret the Apocalypse of John the Scribe as an exposition or Revelation of God's Plan, that can be traced as a chronological series of major historic events. Having completed my exposition of the Seven Letters and the Seven Seals we have now arrived at the dawn of "our time", we write 1914, and World War I is the first war threatening Heaven itself:

Now the seven angels who had the seven trumpets prepared to blow them.

First Trumpet: WWI was indeed the first modern war where strategic bombing by planes or "hail and fire, mixed with blood […] were thrown upon the earth" by all major parts in the war. The pilots literally threw their bombs out of their open cockpits. "The first bombing of a city was on the night of 24–25 August 1914, when eight bombs were dropped from a German airship onto the Belgian city of Antwerp[1]." It's hard to tell exactly how much vegetation was burnt away from this war, but it was a lot. The extensive use of "scorched earth strategy" especially by the Russians and the Germans[2].

Second Trumpet:
World War II was ended completely when US bombers nuked Hiroshima and Nagasaki. A fissile bomb is basically burning uranium or plutonium and the devastation caused by these bombs is immense, so it can indeed be described like "a great mountain, burning with fire, was thrown into the sea" polluting the sea, leading to massive decline in marine life. And in WWII, an estimate of "a third of the ships were destroyed" would be a sound estimate for how many ships were sunk during the six years the war lasted if you count all ships, merchant or navy. According to one source (Answers.com), "105,127 ships participated in WW2. 36,387 ships were destroyed at the end of the war[3]." In other words, roughly one third.

Third Trumpet:
As many of you probably know, "Ukrainian чорнобиль or "chornobyl" means Wormwood in Ukrainian"[4], and a nuclear reactor meltdown of a fissile core can indeed be likened with what happens in a dying or falling star which is the metaphor used in Revelation. And the extent of the radioactive downfall reached about 1/3rd of the globe: "it fell on a third of the rivers and on the springs of water" — and it lead to water contamination and quite a few people died of radiation sickness and other complications following the blast: "Assuming the average dose to a person in eastern Europe to be 0.1 mR/h (0.001mSv/hr), after three weeks of exposure, the total dose per person was 0.5 rads. The radiation cloud track much of the northern latitudes during the first week following the accident[5]." If that does not fit your idea of a falling star, then look to the Fall of USSR following the Chernobyl disaster, USSR whose main logo wasn't really that of a hammer and a sickle, but the star above that.

Fourth Trumpet:
This is a difficult one, and this trumpet is kind of a turning point. The best explanation I have found would be the Internet and the following decay of ethics and morale (light), by the introduction of internet porn and violence. The Sun, Moon and Stars are symbolic of the Church, it has been darkened by immorality and terrible accusations, often proven such, of organised rape of minors. A dark cancerous lump of tar inside the very Church that is supposed to be a refuge for the victims of such atrocities.

Fifth Trumpet:
The Gulf War[6] followed the recipe of Revelation almost too obvious. The smoke of the torched oil-wells turned day into night, and the "locust" coming out of this smoke would be the extensive use of fighter helicopters, and the "scorpions" would be tanks. It is said that Saddam (the "king" of Iraq) means "Destroyer", but "Confronter" is probably a better definition. "Arabic صدام (ʂaddām), [means] to continuously confront.[7]" The war campaign lasted roughly five months.

Sixth Trumpet:
The Two Witnesses (see below*) were the WTC Twin Towers that were destroyed by ramming jet-liners into the buildings on 9/11 in 2001. The idea of erecting two beams of light towards the sky was conceived within the first couple of days following the attack, two powerful rays of light into the sky and further into the Universe[9]. The attacks on 9/11 lead us into the War on Terror which is still raging, and which by many people is seen as a war against extremist Islam, or even Islam as a whole.

Seventh Trumpet:
This is where we are at now. A few months ago a scaled up version of Solomon's Temple was opened in Brazil[10].

*) Now the following chapters is about key players in this trumpet concerto. The Dragon in this context, is the state of war, threatening to swallow Europe (mother of Christ with twelve stars). The Beasts involved in this context, are the main bodies threatening Israel and the West. Initially represented by Al Qaida Iraq (and later Taliban and Al Qaida in Afghanistan) who were the masterminds behind 9/11, which since then has evolved into IS or "The Islamic State" (former ISIL/ISIS) and is one of the major aggressors in the Middle East together with groups such as the Nusra Front and Khorasan. The 'Arabic Spring', Egypt, Iraq and Syria is prophetic material to eschatological Muslims. According to the Koran there will be a great war in Syria lead by a beast emerging from the earth (Sufyani) that will last until two trumpet signals will sound at the return of Jesus and Muhammed and a certain Mahdi who destroys Sufyani (beast) and the Dajal (false prophet)[8]. IS has established a caliphate, an extremist Islamic empire, in the areas of the 'fallen heads' of Revelation's First Beast, the Nemesis of Israel; Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, Persia, all of which were arch-enemies of Israel/Judah. Add the Greek and Roman Empires to that list and you have the complete corpus of the all time Nemesis of Israel and Judah, and Jews in general.

Interesting in places, I believe you got some of that correct. and some of it might be a little different. After all its open to interpretation, right?

so it can indeed be described like "a great mountain, burning with fire, was thrown into the sea" polluting the sea, leading to massive decline in marine life.

More closely resembled by the Oil platform that burned and fell into the Gulf, waters became as blood of a dead man, a third of sea life died, the ships of the destroyed fishing industry, etc.

Indeed. I don't claim to have the absolute answers to these prophetic events, but I believe this is just about how it works.

As for the Event Horizon and the sea turning into blood, it could be, I suppose, but it wouldn't fit in right with the further chronology. But like you said, "everything is open for interpretation, right?"

"everything is open for interpretation, right?"

Thanks to the internet, open to discussion as well. Thats the most important thing. We learn from each other instead of being told how it is from some news desk or pulpit.

By the way, the two bombs dropped on Japan detonated over cities, not "fell into the sea". Neither were they like a "burning mountain cast into the sea". Just saying…

I relish Revelations for I believe more than any other text they survive more intact because each generation that tried to interpret it decided it was so crazy they left it verbatim for others to figure out.

Now that we are witness to fantastic things that were before considered unknown do we begin to see how John tried to write down what he saw.

I like your definition of tanks as scorpions. Hadn't heard that one before. It appears like a scorpion or helicopters as locusts, as it were.

Carry on…

And that means the power of the rulers (Sun, Moon and Stars ref Gen. 1) diminish or enter the dark area, behind the scenes type. It doesn't have to be the moralistic issues that darkens the Church/Israel/TPTB or how they move into the shades and behind the scenes. But all in all, if we looked at all the internet traffic of all people on the Earth (NSA actually can do and does this continually), the idea that 1/3rd of these people have at least once downloaded pirate material (stealing apps, songs and movies etc.), watched hardcore porn or gambled illegally, well, it's more than likely.

By the way, the two bombs dropped on Japan detonated over cities, not "fell into the sea". Neither were they like a "burning mountain cast into the sea". Just saying…

Well, and where is Japan? It's an island in the sea. And Uranium and Plutonium fission involves lit. burning minerals found in mountains. And if you were to compare a nuke to hurling rocks, the metaphor of a mountain being hurled seems fitting.

I relish Revelations for I believe more than any other text they survive more intact because each generation that tried to interpret it decided it was so crazy they left it verbatim for others to figure out.

There are quite a bit of evidence that Revelation is one of THE most edited texts in the Bible.

Now that we are witness to fantastic things that were before considered unknown do we begin to see how John tried to write down what he saw.

Indeed, the ancient prophets would have sold their moms if it meant they could live today to witness these things reaching fulfilment.

The cannons would be the venomous scorpion tails. Helicopters and tanks apply.

Nah, God is more old school it seems. He's into horns and cymbals.

Like Mahler's second for instance:

Because it was written before electricity, for one. And its a metaphor. The trumpets back then heralded public announcements. Like revelations meant 'to be revealed' or some such.

What louder "trumpet" today than the internet?

But I wish it came with good background music, too.

Indeed, the ancient prophets would have sold their moms if it meant they could live today to witness these things reaching fulfillment.

If they were "caught up in the Spirit" and shown "things to come", that may be literally. They may even be in the footage of the events.

Like 911. Ever compared that day to Revelations, chapter 18?

What if we conducted a search of the footage taken in New York? Might we find a time traveller in period dress among the gawkers staring up at the building?

I was a rocker way back. Eevry song I can ever remember is on the internet. I book marked a ton and I do listen to them. Not background though. More like balm, a distraction from the madness when I need a break.

lol,

You mean the devils face in the smoke of the burning building? Fleeting. I meant more like a face in the crowd, a stunned look, middle eastern outfit, handwoven, leather thongs, dirty, bearded, and a stranger at his side… pointing, gesturing, whispering in his ear.

"Thats what this means and that is why its happening". The whole time the time traveler is dumbfounded and asking, but why me?
