www.boston.com...

The US military is drawing up plans to keep insurgents from regaining control of this battle-scarred city, but returning residents may find that the measures make Fallujah look more like a police state than the democracy they have been promised.

Under the plans, troops would funnel Fallujans to so-called citizen processing centers on the outskirts of the city to compile a database of their identities through DNA testing and retina scans. Residents would receive badges displaying their home addresses that they must wear at all times. Buses would ferry them into the city, where cars, the deadliest tool of suicide bombers, would be banned.

Mmmm, "citizen processing centers". Identity badges, yay.

"You have to say, 'Here are the rules,' and you are firm and fair. That radiates stability," said Lieutenant Colonel Dave Bellon, intelligence officer for the First Regimental Combat Team, the Marine regiment that took the western half of Fallujah during the US assault and expects to be based downtown for some time.

Bellon asserted that previous attempts to win trust from Iraqis suspicious of US intentions had telegraphed weakness by asking, " 'What are your needs? What are your emotional needs?' All this Oprah [stuff]," he said. "They want to figure out who the dominant tribe is and say, 'I'm with you.' We need to be the benevolent, dominant tribe.

"They're never going to like us," he added, echoing other Marine commanders who cautioned against raising hopes that Fallujans would warmly welcome troops when they return to ruined houses and rubble-strewn streets. The goal, Bellon said, is "mutual respect."

Laughable.

And the "election" is only, what, a month away?

Sounds like the exact same thing the Pentagon did in Vietnam, called "Strategic Hamlet".

In Vietnam, the US forced Vietnamese peasants to build their own prison camps, while in Fallujah male civilians will be organized in military-style battalions and, depending on their skills will be assigned jobs in construction, waterworks, or rubble-clearing platoons.

In other words, Fallujans will be organized into chain-gangs and forced to clean up the criminal mess the United States made of their city. For some reason the Pentagon either doesn't realize or doesn't care about the anger and resistance that this type of thing may cause.

WHAT are they thinking? THIS is freedom?!?!

I dont see in that article anything about the US being Natzi's. That your opinion or do you have anything to back that up?

I do see a refference to post WWII policy in Germany, but please tell me where it compares the US to the Natzi's.

You really cant see the similarities?

Under the plans, troops would funnel Fallujans to so-called citizen processing centers on the outskirts of the city to compile a database of their identities.

Extremely similar to how Germany treated its occupied states in WWII to keep track of every citizen under they're control so they can 'disipline' anyone who steps out of line personnally.

Residents would receive badges displaying their home addresses that they must wear at all times.

Once again similar to how Germany in WWII treated they're newy occupied peoples, so that they could be better organised into seperate 'groups' which virtually decided how they would be treated.

The conservatives of this country will never admit to being like Nazi's in thier militaristic actions. They are ' to close to God' to be wrong. Remember, even the Nazi's thought they were right.
