AMMONNEWS - The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) militants in Iraq's northwest Nineveh province have created a police force to "implement the orders of the religious judiciary," according to a well-known militant Islamist website.

Photos on the website showed armed men in black clothing with "Islamic Police Nineveh State" printed on the arm.

The police forces were in freshly painted police cars and one photo showed militiamen on a river boat.

It was not clear when the photos were posted or when the police force was established.

The text on the website said the force would "maintain order and arrest culprits and the corrupt." The text said it would be
different from police forces in other states, which it described as "a tool to suppress dissent."

Residents in Nineveh told Reuters the police's main duty appears to be to detain people they consider opposed to their cause, however.

The police have set up checkpoints on roads and conducted house raids, the residents said. One photo showed a blindfolded man being escorted into a prison.

ISIS took the Iraqi cities of Mosul, in Nineveh, and Tikrit in June and has announced an Islamic Caliphate in areas it controls in Iraq and Syria.

Its fighters have shocked the world with execution-style killings of Sunnis, Shi'ites, Christians, Yazidis and Kurds. Western governments and Islamic countries fear their citizens who are fighting for Islamic State could threaten national security if they return home.

U.S. President Barack Obama has launched air strikes against ISIS in Iraq and U.N. human rights chief Zeid Ra'ad al Hussein urged world powers this month to protect women and minorities targeted by the group, saying its fighters were trying to create a "house of blood."

ISIS has gradually taken steps to govern since taking over Nineveh this year. In July, ISIS told Christians in Mosul to convert to Islam or pay a religious tax.

This month the militant group issued an edict to change the school curriculum, scrapping classes in civics, history, fine arts and music. The word "nationalism" is a banned word, under the new rules.

*Am sorry if this is not presented in correct format - not v tech savvy*

I am constantly surprised by how organised and efficient ISIS are at establishing their twisted form of structure in society.
It's not the first article I've read which speaks of Isis judicial system being full in place. To form their own police force is a pretty bold move....just lead me to think; will there come a time when we (Western countries/ governments ) are forced to 'accept' Isis taking control of entire countries in Middle East and consequently will these areas simply become no-go areas? Will we be forced to cooperate to some extent for trade etc? Will or can they become a valid state that we don't like but can't defeat?
Am confused about what the Western agenda really is....ISIS leave no doubt what their agenda is. Can they / do they truly want to defeat them?

I like to keep an eye on Ammon News...tends to give a different slant to the developments in the area...certainly didn't read of the ISIS police in MSM

So... Kinda like the police in America then?

Sorry, had to do it.

Yes, I agree this Isis thing is weirdly organized. And ramping up crazy fast.

a Caliphate will have all the necessary parts that a Nation has, Laws, police, judges....healthcare, banking, commerce trade, welfare, schooling, etc etc --- everything we have to support our national economy, society

the current Caliph, Abu Bakr is assuming the role as Caliph Ibrahim under the authority of it being a rebirth of the very first elected Caliph Abu Bakr (the centuries in between are non-existant) between these Caliphates according to Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the self proclaimed Caliph...

it is interesting; the Caliphate was declaired 29 June 2014, al-Baghdadi declared himself Caliph on 4 July 2014
interesting numerology: the first event was 75 days after the blood-moon, the 2nd event was 80 days after blood moon
I wonder does Rev 13:2 apply to this Caliphate
