It was recently shared with us, by fellow ATSer Zcustosmorum, that 43 Israeli Intelligence Reservists Vow To Stop Spying On Palestinians!!!

It is now being said that Israel is looking to discipline the Soldiers for such a public act of defiance!!!

Israeli military to discipline intel veterans over public refusal to spy on Palestinians

An unsurprising turn of events...
It has been said by many that Israel would spin this story ASAP to make it look like these soldiers are traitors!!!

The Israeli military has threatened disciplinary action against 43 veteran servicemen who signed an open letter refusing to spy on the Palestinians for the IDF’s elite military intelligence Unit 8200.

“There is no room for insubordination in the IDF,” spokesman Moti Almoz said. “There are disputes and (opposing) political positions” but the military is not the place to take political actions designed to schism, he stressed.

“We in the IDF, up to the most senior officer, view this severely, and the disciplinary action will be loud and clear,” Almoz vowed.

So again, The State Of Israel thinks it's above the law...

The IDF statement comes in response to an open letter of refusal that has been sent to the Israeli prime minister, the IDF chief and the head of military intelligence. In it, 43 past and present reservists openly proclaim that they refuse to serve in military intelligence. In witness testimonies, they detail the strategies used by Israel.

The open letter, basically a written refusal is well within a human's rights...
As well as exposing certain strategies after the fact... A veteran is well within their rights to share their story...
Especially when those tactics are illegal...

Such means of obtaining information throws the legitimacy and indeed the actual existence of the unit into question, as it does not necessarily serve Israel's national interest. Testimonies claim that there is no mechanism that monitors whether individual freedoms are respected.

“The notion of rights for Palestinians does not exist at all, not even as an idea to be disregarded,” one witness statement said. “Any Palestinian may be targeted and may suffer from sanctions, such as the denial of permits, harassment, extortion, or even direct physical injury.”

TSOI responded...

The IDF denied resorting to any illegal methods of intelligence gathering, saying that the Unit “has no record that the specific violations in the letter ever took place”.

Just another day in Israel, where a criminal Government can do as they wish...
Where a terrorist state can thrive...

"Only democratic Middle Eastern country" ???
...
...
...
...
Bollocks!!!

but of course they don't. I wonder...what the mechanism behind this or other similar situations like this. Like for instance...FOIA requests...sure you can request data or something...but the "other" side can always say...we don't have that type/kind of data.

So in essence these types of accusations/requests always rely on the accused/requested side to come clean and disclose that which they haven't been disclosing up to that point.

I hope these guys have more of a proof than a request to IDF to admit it

I'm not fan of Israel, but what was said here:

“There is no room for insubordination in the IDF,” spokesman Moti Almoz said. “There are disputes and (opposing) political positions” but the military is not the place to take political actions designed to schism, he stressed.

is true for the military, any military. Militaries don't work by letting their people question orders.

No doubt...
Which should he the case to a certain degree...
But Israelis don't sign up for war and espionage...
They're conscripted...
& they're well within their human rights to refuse Israel's "mandatory" service!!!
A prison sentence might be on the cards...
But these servicemen can hold their heads up high no matter what!!!
