How DO I directly reply to posters?? I've tried this recently " a reply to: name " but it didn't work, so, gotta ask.
I know this is pretty simple, I've tried looking for a thread where this has been asked before, but could find nothing.

Also, I've been a HUGE lurker here (as you can see ^_^)and have never actually learned how to perform all the in's and out's of posting,(obviously) but recently I have been posting and would like to post even more; however doing that would be far easier if I knew the in's and out's.

So, is there a thread I could be directed to of the whole layout of being a poster here? And I've got the 'using the new features and functions of ATS. 5/3' in another tab, but are there any others that are a bit more detailed?

(unless my answer WAS in that thread and just missed it . . .
)

Please & Thank you!

on the top right (your right) corner of each post is a reply button, is that what you need?

Are you talking about a 'reply' to a comment in a thread or a PM [private message]?
The little person icon below our stats lets you use the PM thingy
And as indigent stated, the 'reply' button is in the top right hand corner of the posters comment

Also, click onto the link at the bottom of my sig 'Help with ATS 5.3' and it might have some helpful tips in there too

Any luck?
Have you tried to 'reply' back to us?

The 'reply' button is just that, for your reply to a poster
The 'quote' button next to it gives you the posters full quote as well

How do you send a Private Message to a board member? I tried sending a message (2 times) but was immediately told I could only send to ATS staff members.

Maybe it's because I'm new. Is there somewhere I can read up on the Rules and a FAQ of ATS?

Thank you.

PS I couldn't start a thread even. Thanks again.

Hi there and welcome.

Yes, those restrictions will go away once you have made 20 posts. We do this in order to protect our members from spammers. The only place someone with under 20 posts can initiate a new thread is the Intro forum.

Just have a look around the site, look for threads that interest you and post replies. Believe me, 20 posts will fly by real fast.

As far as an FAQ... personally my recommendation would be having a peek at the Freshman's Forum that Thurisaz linked above. It's a great resource with a lot of very helpful members of our community who are able to help you get used to things.

Best of luck!

Thanks Djarums. I think I only have 9 posts now.

PS Going to strive for 20 posts. Good rule though.
