Part of the progressive agenda was to push college as the only choice for success.....This is a lie. It flooded the marketplace and many young adults are not even working in the field they got a degree in.

Add on top of that the I am too good for that attitude because my parents always told me I was a winner. This is also part of the progressive mindset conditioning. Many young people are not even leaving the nest well into adulthood. Go into a mountain of debt you will never be able to pay back because the degree you earned is worthless. The plan worked and truth be told it will never change.

You are full of crap. Most young people aren't leaving the nest because they cannot afford to because of the debt that you JUST outlined and the crappy jobs that they aren't getting. I'm getting really tired of old people calling my generation lazy. The reason we can't get jobs is because YOU people won't retire. The baby boomers are the biggest generation and since they can't retire and are taking up more and more service jobs, it's squeezing out the younger crowd.

There it is! (And the baby boomers are selfish, and think they have done soooo much that they spoiled the rest of us)

I know it is a government job but people in need of money should become police officers.

I see a lot of the same people on ATS complain about two things, not having a job/money and police abuse/corruption.

Well to those I say become a police officer. Make $36k a year and help change policing for the better! Two birds, one stone right.

A lot of departments will pay for you to go back to school too. Get your degree and then join the private sector.

Win, win. Any takers?

I know America needs to bring back manufacturing and create more private sector jobs. Just saying.

Most people have smoked weed. They test back 5-10 years and most cannot make the cut.
Most cannot make the physical requirements.
Most cannot wait the 8 month process to apply.
Most cannot afford to pay the fee (as in Chicago its 200 bucks to apply for CPD)
Most are not hiring.
Most are hiring, with a 10 year wait list, like Chicago.

Point is, in this country anyway, the way we live, not very communally, makes us subject to an individual higher cost of living. Don't really know how much of it I could stand personally, but it looks like a economical option to have several of the kids and their spouses living under the same roof with rent being the main drain on everyone's income.

Here is the cold hard facts. The Baby Boomers are SELFISH. Because of their entitlement attitude kids are not having the option of moving in with parents. While I agree its economical, it is not plausible with the majority of the mentality out there. Kids are moving out from age fifteen onward; parents are literally forcing their kids to be gone as soon as "they get old enough". This is part of the reaosn why the homelessness is out of control amongst the young. Even if you go out into the world and fall flat on your assy poo, you CANT GO HOME AND MAKE DUE. Very rarely do you find a tight knit family that allows this. Most are left to their own laurels on how to cope. People now are saying "I can't afford to take you in". Maybe you can't find a job but you get food for the house. People still bitch it isnt enough.

America is acting like Bolshevek Russia government wise, and the people are just being moral reprehension.

And let me tell you a story. Many years ago, I was a LEO in AZ. I had to take a guy down to the Maricopa County Jail in Downtown Phoenix and the place was packed. The holding facility between the prison and the outside sally port was about 25' X 25'. There were about 15 people getting booked and about 5 LEOs. This one loudmouth dirt bag was going on and on, ragging on the Phoenix PD guy that arrested him. How he was able to outrun the LEO for X amount of blocks only to be caught when he, the badguy stopped to take his breath. The whole place was like a comedy show. This guy had everyone laughing. After about 15 minutes of this, the Phoenix PD guy, without saying a word, raises his hands to silence the crowd and walks to the center of the room. As everyone expects him to start bashing on the guy, all he does is lift up the pants leg on his left leg, reveling an aluminum prosthetic lower leg. All he says is "I still caught you". The room roared with laughter, and the POS dirtbag shrank into the corner.

Moral??? Stop making excuses. If a cop with half a leg can catch someone in good health, there is no reason why anyone can't get a decent paying job.

You should start a 'stop making excuses' thread with this story. Sincerely, you deserve way more than the two stars you got for this post. Cheers.

no college which most don't go to till after graduation!
here's a story for you
when it came time to take the college entrance tests in high school I went asked my mom for the money needed to take the test. this was here answer:
You don't need to go to college. You're gonna marry a rich man and he's gonna take care of you and me the rest of our lives!
She wouldn't let me get a job while in high school either.
So well I didn't go to college till a few years after I graduated
the sad thing was if I had gone right after college I would have had plenty of scholarships to get a bachelors

so well I've given a clue as to how old I am probably

All your going to get is a "personal responsibility" tow line that doesn't individualize and empathize with your story to actually help you in the way that you need it.

So, choices were made, regardless if they are/were bad or good. It is not the burden of society.

Welcome to the American dream people!

In today's America you can expect to work for a temp agency making $10 an hour for every job! If your lucky we'll hire you! But we'll probably get rid of you right before you qualify for benefits.

Just think! Jobs that used to pay 17+ an hour will not pay 8.25!

No but on a more serious note. Corporations are really taking advantage if the economy. Most factory jobs and warehouse jobs that were once worth 15-16-17 an hour are now worth 8-9 an hour. Wages are declining. There is less jobs therefor more competition.

The economy is not improving. My buddy just graduate college and he's been looking for a job for 4 months without even as much as a phone call back. His degree is environmental science.

It's not just your friend who's having problems finding a job in their degree. 284,000 college graduates were working for minimum wage last year. We can assume that if they are working for minimum wage it's a job in fast food, retail, factory work... www.huffingtonpost.com...

Agreed. www.usatoday.com... Right there is a map that goes by state how many hours you have to work at minimum wage in order to pay for rent. That right there is why people aren't leaving their parents houses. It's because they can't.

some truths in business............
1...businesses are always trying to figure out a way to replace a worker with a machine.
2...workers are never hired until they are absolutely necessary
3...when business is bad, workers are always laid off first, while the ones that are left, pick up their workload
4...when business is good, workers will be laid off, if paying overtime to the workers that are left, is economically viable
5...if your job can be done overseas in an economical way, it will be.
6...if your job can be done by a minimum wage new hire, no matter how much experience you have, you will be replaced.
7...yes, good looks and appearance does matter.

So you will hopefully agree that workers, in essence, are entirely at the mercy of their employers...and ironically this ALSO includes things like their health-insurance, vacations etc. which an employer (if they can choose!) of course does not want to carry!

So..I could say you Americans are extremely dependant and NANNIED by corporates and companies (much more than in Europe because here we have laws which protect employees from certain things).

But what amazes me is that you're fine with the above (which is basically not too different than slave labour)... however get extremely paranoid and upset at the idea that employees (like in Europe) could get "nannied" by the government.

If I had the choice to get nannied and be extremely dependent either on some employer (where I know their agenda foremostly and naturally is their profit!) and the government...I'd rather choose the European "socialist" system than getting bent over by some corporate. FACT.

Yes, this is true. Too bad the older generations have been telling millennials (my generation) since I was a small kid (I'm 28) that you graduate from high school and then get a good job. Like it is guaranteed. You can't really blame all these kids for being deceived their whole lives.

I totally agree with you. BUT it does help you to get a job easier in a field that you like.
If that many people who have degrees are working for minimum wage, it's either they are picking fields that don't have many jobs available, or there aren't jobs available at all in most higher end fields.

I would imagine a ton of people are feeling pretty bitter because it's drilled into our heads that we need to go to college to get a good job, but people are going to college and are unable to get jobs in their field of choice.

I agree. Here it is in the Networking world.

Half of the companies hire based on certificates people have. Now, there are about 1/3 of the people in the Networking field that are paper tigers. They went to a bootcamp, paid a butt load of money, got force fed info for the test and past. They have no real experience or little, and they get high end jobs.

I don't hold any College Degree. I do hold about 15 different certifications, mostly within the Cisco world. A couple odd ones like ITIL and such. I have a day job that pays around $80k a year.

You don't need a college degree.

no that is my burden!! you know what isn't my burden???
ensuring that all those workers working for minimum wage and low wages have roofs over their head and food on their tables and that their kids have clothes on their backs!!
It's the corporate world that wants them returning to their jobs tomorrow and the next day the next week. Not me! So why am I along with the rest of the tax payers carrying this burden while the corp world not only gets away with paying them crap wages but also charges insane prices for the necessities of life?

not to mention all the "I don't want to work"s out there??
guess what it's made me not want to work either!
and well right now I don't have too and the family funds seem to cover what we need so well you can carry the burden if you want to save the poor corporate world the pain of carrying it!
