I’ve been writing threads, making posts and actively engaging in debates that involve the issue of methane gas here at ATS, for nearly two years.

I’ve been showing you all that dangerous gases, methane and hydrogen sulfide, are releasing into the atmosphere and we are on the cusp of an extinction level event.

I’ve been predicting that we are close to the tipping point and that it may already be too late.

Yes, doom porn at its finest. And, unfortunately, more and more headlines seem to confirm what I’ve been suggesting.

Of course, a few weeks ago there was the news about 570 more methane vents found off the east coast. This is very significant. Only a year ago when I was still researching to write my book, Fever Rising, about the methane and hydrogen sulfide gases, there were less than 20 known vents in the Atlantic.

570 new methane vents found off in the Atlantic

Just before this discovery, there were also more seeps found in the Arctic. Some of the vents in the Arctic, off the East Siberian Arctic Shelf, are so large they are referring to them as “megaflares.” These megaflares are as large as a kilometer wide.

In the article linked above, the experts are in a desperate attempt to downplay the significance of these vents, calling them “a few bubbles.” Even at the end of the article, the scientist claims it will only get exciting unless there is a catastrophic release, but once that happens, it will definitely be too late to stop.

These methane plumes from vents are thawing frozen gas hydrates underneath the sea floor that have been there for ages. Methane gas is frozen under the oceans and what scientists are determining about these vents in the Atlantic are that even the slightest temperature change can cause the gas to thaw, and that’s exactly what they say about these newly discovered vents…they are in an area that has undergone just a slight change in temperature. What does that mean for the future of the frozen methane hydrates should the temperatures continue to warm?

From the article linked;

“So far everybody has been looking at small spots. This is the first time anyone has systematically mapped an entire margin,” says Christian Berndt, a marine geophysicist at GEOMAR in Kiel, Germany, who was not involved in the study. It was also a surprise because seeps are typically found above known methane reservoirs, or above regions of active tectonic activity. The continental margin was thought to be virtually devoid of seeps—until scientists studied the sonar data. “They found that there was much more methane coming out than was suspected beforehand,” Berndt says.
For a handful of the seeps, the researchers were able to take pictures with a remotely operated submersible. They found carbonate rocks associated with the seeps that would have taken several thousand years to form. But some of the seeps are shallow—and are at the critical depth where hydrates fall apart—so they could be sensitive to rising ocean temperatures on much shorter time scales, says Carolyn Ruppel, a co-author of the new study and chief of the gas hydrates project at the U.S. Geological Survey in Woods Hole, Massachusetts. “There are reasons to believe that some of the present seepage has been triggered by changes in oceanographic conditions,” she says.

Other recent news in regards to my theory that dangerous gases have us on a crash course with an extinction event include mysterious craters and blowholes, more fireball sightings, disease outbreaks and drug-resistant bacteria and the powerful storms with torrential rains causing massive amounts of flooding…everywhere!

A farmer found 25 mysterious perfect circle holes in the bottom of his pond after he drained it some for irrigation purposes. Even though they come up with some theory called collapsible soil, this is most likely another methane burst, similar to the blowholes found in Siberia. There are similar situations to this to, like the collapsing sand in the Indiana sand dunes off the shores of Lake Michigan. There are no weights of water on these collapsing sand dunes, so what is the cause there?

Meteorite smashes into Nicaraguan capital

Even though tornadoes have had a low count this year, the severe thunderstorms have been epic. They have been continuous and relentless all summer long. I’m way up here in northern Wisconsin, where we don’t get to many big storms, but this year has been incredible and the rainfall amounts…holy cow. The ground was already saturated after the winter thaw because we received a lot of rain in the spring on top of 120 inches of snow. People’s basements were flooding. The rain took some time off during July, for our town anyways, and then returned with a vengeance through the month of August, until the storm of September 4 that rampaged through my hometown of Hayward, Wis.

I took my kid to pre-k school and I wish I had been paying attention to the weather because I wouldn’t have brought him. The sky was already getting dark, but I was thinking another rain event. When we got to the school daytime had turned into nighttime, the rain started quick and within seconds it was golf ball size hail. The winds were at 80 mph and the lightning was non-stop. After the initial wave hit, it then sounded like a freight train was rolling overhead. It was intense. Over this same two day period, massive storms pounded all over the Midwest, including Chicago and parts of Michigan.

Thousands of trees were down in our area as well as power outages. In one neighborhood it looked like a tornado went through as trees were down in all different directions. This was definitely a powerful downburst of energy. Two days later, the floods began. We got five inches of rain through that storm and it wasn’t just here in our town, but all over northern Wisconsin. So much rain on a ground already saturated. The water table had already risen to the bottom of peoples basements. Sure enough, waters from the north began flowing into the creek that runs right through the center of our little town and it had nowhere to go but up and over the banks. The creek runs in a bed six feet below peoples yards and streets, but it created lakes throughout the area. Here are some pictures. Many homes were flooded. Of course, this is nothing compared to some of the flooding across American towns lately or the 1,000 villages flooded in Pakistan, but hey, in my neck of the woods, this was a first time in my life. Hayward hasn’t flooded since 1941.

To be continued...

This is all due to the increasing moisture in the atmosphere. As the global temperatures rise, the vapor content will increase as well. Moisture has already increased 7% in the past few years due to the rising temperatures. This is going to cause a lot more torrential rain and snow events. Here in Hayward, the waters receded a little bit and some roads re-opened last night, but unfortunately, we have rain in the forecast for three days starting tomorrow. The water has no where to go, so I fear what will most likely happen in the coming days for our little town.

These are only a few of the many different news articles in addition to ATS threads here about strange phenomenon that have been occurring lately. The mass animal die-offs continue as do reports of loud booms. Just the other day there were several loud booms reported off the coast of North Carolina. I suggested that these may have something to do with all the new plumes discovered out there. These booms are most likely methane gas explosions as the plumes come up from the sea floor and escape into the atmosphere and I wouldn’t doubt it if the government is purposely igniting the plumes in a mitigation effort. Better to ignite methane and have it burn off into the atmosphere as carbon dioxide. It is 25 times less potent than methane in trapping the sun’s heat.

Nobody really knows what all the booms are

There are just too many things to list here, so I wrote a book…

After two years of debating with you all about these gases and if they really are threatening our existence, I have written a book, Fever Rising. The book was written based off of my dangerous gas theory threads here at ATS, even featuring comments and posts made by ATS members. I give all the proper credits to ATS and the members throughout the book. Many of these posts were taken directly from the numerous threads I have over the past two years. I first found out about the threat of these gases when I stumbled onto the Jumping Jack Flash Hypothesis The author of this hypothesis, Jonny Mnemonic, also contributes a great deal of commentary in the book, as well as many contributed posts on ATS threads that are reprinted in Fever Rising.

The Dangerous Gas Theory thread here at ATS

As I was debating with you fine folks, I was digging and doing more research, and throughout that time I found so much evidence, it was astounding. The result, 130,000 words over 480 pages examining the evidence and answering all your questions about all the phenomena that have been increasing in intensity and frequency over the past 7 years.

Don’t believe the world is warming?
Fever Rising will convince you.

You’ve been told carbon dioxide is a threat, but the real game changer has been hidden from you.

The world’s governments and main stream media are silent on what truly threatens our very existence; the dangerous gases, methane and hydrogen sulfide.

Fever Rising explores the who, what, where, when, why and how of what is currently happening on a world-wide scale, breaking down the role each of these gases plays in global warming.

Fever Rising goes into great detail to examine the evidence, the causes and the symptoms and why their rapid escalation in intensity and frequency has everything to do with global warming; which include earthquakes, volcanoes, sinkholes, landslides, extreme weather events, rising sea levels, melting glaciers, loud earth-shaking booms, strange sky noises, unexplained fires and explosions, mass animal die-offs, disease outbreaks, fireballs and mysterious human deaths.

What makes you or the climate scientists think that these newly discovered vents are new and not old vents re opening. Who knows how many vents are operational on the oceans floors at any given time. The answer is a great unknown as the amount these unknown vents are producing. This now begs the question how is man responsible for more or less venting on the oceans floors? Man as a whole is looking for any answers to a very very complex climate system and at the moment in my opinion they are adding 2 and 2 together and coming up with 9 not even 5. Close one parameter and another different one opens. It's not that simple as stop burning fossil fuels or stop spraying this chemical or that chemical. We have changed humans environment beyond measure these last 100 years. Notice I said humans not the Earth s. The earth can take whatever we throw at it and it will keep on turning. Now if humans have got any time span in the Earth s future????? That's the burning question.

If these are old vents simply re-opening, then what's the difference? What caused them to re-open? Why now, in this day and age when we are all debating whether this is happening or not. Why is it so hard for some to see what is really going on?

I cleared it with management because the book idea was born here at ATS and it stars many members who participated in my dangerous gas theory threads.

Yes. It will open your eyes. Or, at the very least, help you see things from a different perspective.

That's all I can hope for at this point, is that more people begin to realize we are entering a dangerous time. The more we fool around and argue about whether man did this or if it's cyclical in nature, the more time we waste giving these gases the upper hand. It's inevitable what will happen if nothing is done and I don't mean if you start recycling today, or stop driving around your SUV. Sure, those are good things to help, but they are just too small on the scale of things now. We need major changes at the government and corporate level, but greed has them by the balls.

I've never denied climate change. I believe with 100% certainty that this is a living planet with ever changing weather and climate patterns. I'm positive that long after humans are gone, the climate will continue to change. I would be concerned if it didn't.

There's a huge difference between not believing that the climate is changing and not believing that humans are the cause.

What changes are needed?

More taxes, more laws what will it take to stop something that most likely is a natural cycle?

Throughout the book I don't crusade that man is the cause, I just try to study it all and show that it is happening and I also try to point to the year 2007 as the actual year the rapid increase in global warming began, but why, that is the big question. Sure, IMO, there are some things we have a hand in, such as fracking. I do believe fracking may have a lot to do with it simply because the fracking frenzy began in 2005 after Bush signed the clean water act, then, like I said, methane levels started shooting upwards in our atmosphere only two years later. I don't profess to know what the cause is, I only suggest fracking as a contributor. And, I only discuss fracking in chapter 7, otherwise I leave it alone. The majority of the book isn't to show what caused it, although I do examine all the possibilities, but to show that it is definitely happening and here's why.

Once again, here we go down the old "let's tax" road to derail what I'm trying to say. I don't once mention the word tax in the book. That's not my intention. When I say change by corporate and government, I mostly refer to major things such as burning off the gas that is escaping, or even capturing it and harnessing it. But, can you imagine the scale of this if these vents are opening up all over the sea floors. And yes, I don't think we need a tax to put a stop to Fracking!

I'd also like to add to this that Jonny Mnemonic, the author of the The Jumping Jack Flash Hypothesis, believes that fracking itself is actually a mitigation effort to get rid of the gas that is already coming up to the surface anyways. This is also in the book, but he says that fracking may have been allowed to boom as a way to capture gas that would have otherwise plumed into the atmosphere. Something along those lines anyways. Another idea he suggests in the book is that governments may have to soon, if they aren't already, blow up the methane gas vents, possibly with nukes. What a thought that is. It reminded me of the rumors (conspiracy) that went around late last year about the generals who detonated a nuke off the South Carolina coast in defiance of Obama orders to blow up a city. Some believe a nuke was detonated and maybe the real reason was to ignite a major plume or vent. These are the types of masssive mitigation efforts that may be in our future.

From Wikipedia

A climate tipping point is a somewhat ill-defined concept of a point when global climate changes from one stable state to another stable state, in a similar manner to a wine glass tipping over. After the tipping point has been passed, a transition to a new state occurs. The tipping event may be irreversible, comparable to wine spilling from the glass: standing up the glass will not put the wine back.

Better said than I could have put it. In this situation, that next state is the state where we, mankind, won't survive.

I would imagine that if there were enough methane in our atmosphere ,someone would invent something to capture and utilize it in the way of energy .No fracking involved just some kind of a air pump .At this point the methane is not plentiful enough or dangerous enough ...aside from the senario of a tipping point do you have any idea what the ppm might be ? a reply to: Rezlooper

I'm not sure how to best express what I want to ask, but...

...Do you have a 'guestimate' as to when it will become 'obvious' to the average person (non-believers so to speak) that the climate change thing and especially its probable 'societal' effects are really happening?

What I mean is, how long do you think we have before the sort of changes that affect 'everyday, average American life' will become an inarguable fact of the future, even to people who don't pay attention to this sort of stuff (i.e. your average suburban PTA member, for example)?

And - though I hate to make you 'go there', as a parent to young children (I have a daughter myself), what do you think their lives hold, if nothing is done on a wide enough scale to change the 'probable' future?

Thank you...I know it must be difficult to look ahead and see the potential for such devastation in our children's lifetime, so I just want to say that I really appreciate your willingness to be 'aware' of everything your research has found...
