First off, forget what you want to believe to be true. Once your mind is clear of biased you are ready for the simple solution.
There are usually two sides (A & B) to every political storyline. The truth and the Agenda. Very seldom they are the same. But in the event they are, this solution still works.
Here is the simple solution.
Pretend that you want to believe side A. Research for 30 minutes side A from mainstream media, alternative media, pro side A blogs, and finally the cause and effect of the origin of the subject.
Afterwards, do the same with side B.
Then finally, Give yourself another 30 minutes to let the opposing sides marinate within, before putting your gut to work.
I truly believe that anyone that sincerely practices this form of political discernment will find out they their gut will reveal truths that their biased sometimes recesses.
Too often people are ferried around by their political parties and positions that they are left believing what they are shaped to believe.
At the very least, if you find yourself asking "How can this person believe something so stupid?" Give this idea a shot and maybe he doesn't seem so stupid.
Just a thought.
