I have a condition known as Hidradenitis Suppurativa.I have had it since I was 11. it sucks, and mine hasn't even progressed too terribly far. I don't have the wherewithal to imbed a link, but if you are curious, google- or whatever you choose- it and see what it is and does.
I have another thread, concerning this disease. I discussed some possible remedies, and received recommendations from other members here.
My point of this thread is to say that Rick Simpson Oil, or CBD oil has healed up the open wound that had developed from this disease. For those who don't know, painful cysts form and after a period of time (if you progress beyond stage 1), these sites form tunnels under the skin and connect. This is called a sinus tract. Once this happens, the infection is swapped back and forth through the tract, and an inevitable rupturing occurs. Once these wounds open, doctors say that the only way to permanently (I say permanent because mine would close for a day here and there) close the wound is to surgically remove the affected area. I have only developed 1 tract, but once it opened I had to keep it bandaged 24/7 to prevent immense pain.

I decided that giving CBD oil a try to see if it would help. Within 5 days my wound closed up and healed over! (As a disclaimer to others who suffer this- my wound was quite small, the largest it got was a little smaller that a dime. If you have a larger wound, it may very well take longer to heal up.) I can not stress how amazing it was to not have to bandage myself- adhesive burn can be very painful. I was on the oil for about 2 weeks when I went off in order to give my supply to someone who needed it more than I. A week later the site opened up again and surprisingly, I had forgotten how painful it was! After a few weeks I was able to procure some more oil, and again, within 5 days the wound closed up.

I am not saying this is a cure all, or that it cures HS, but it helped me when nothing else has. I am amazed that CBD oil has done for me what no antibiotic, accutane, home remedies or other treatment has done.

Had to look this up, I'm not surprised it turns out to be hemp oil. There just seems to be no end of uses for this miraculous substance!

You poor thing, I honestly don’t know how people live with HS. I thought I had it but turned out to be folliculitis from over-enthusiastic hair removal and that was bad enough, I really do feel for you. I still get flare-ups from time to time and am definitely going to order some CBD oil in readiness of an attack…

I’m so happy that you’ve discovered something that works for you, this is going to make such a difference to your life!

Thanks for the thread, nice one

My progression hasn't been nearly as bad as what many suffer with, so I count myself lucky. My main motivator in finding a real treatment is my children. The disease is genetic (though the establishment isn't ready to fully admit that, I know, for I have seen it run through my family history). I do not want my kids to suffer from HS like I have.

That being said, I would love to get my hands on the low thc, high cbd oil. I am not fond of the psychoactive effects of the oil, and I take such a small dose, I don't really think I could lower the amount much more!

Glad to hear that you did not have HS, though most people with it have never been diagnosed, or properly diagnosed. I saw several specialists, over 10 years (one of whom said it was chronic folliculitis as well), before my obgyn mentioned the name of the disease in passing. I was floored, and asked, "Is that what I have?" She pulled out one of her manuals and showed me. It was a wonderful and terrible day; for I went home to search this disease to find out not much could be done and it would likely get worse.

I hope someone finds this thread and it helps him or her!

I didn't know HS was hereditary. God-awful thing to have, I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy... Just having folliculitis has given my confidence a severe battering.

Yeah I hope even non-members of ATS pick up this thread via a Google seach for HS, this info could improve the quality of life for so many sufferers!

Update this thread or U2U me to let me know how the oil works for you long-term, I'm really interested to know what effect it has on the scarring

Update time, after a pretty intense anxiety attack (I know that seems to be abnormal for most people using cannabis) I drastically cut back on the amount I was taking. My wound opened back up, but I am now on a twice daily, small dosage. The wound is closing again.

Like I mentioned before, I don't particularly want the psychoactive effect, depending on my frame of mind it can be an ok think or a bad thing. I would love to get my hands on some low thc high cbd oil, but that is hard to come by.

I'll update gain, as needed.

After a trip to Colorado, I was able to experiment with CBD extract. I was skeptical , because it is sold only as a supplement. I was not able to take my RSO while there, because of the legality of it coming into the airport. My wounds were very painful most of my trip, but once I took a full dose of the extract, they began to heal. I am testing this extract out, holding off on my doses of RSO, because I honestly would rather nix the psychoactive part of RSO.

The product I used is legal to use in all states (though you would still fail a drug screen, since the tests look for CBD). If anyone is interested in the exact product I used, pm me. I'm not sure what the rules are concerning that.

RSO is a miracle oil! A good friend of my family has a type of skin cancer where a similar symptom occurs. He would get large open skin wounds. Worst part was, they were on his face. Upon topical use to the wounds, they amazingly started to heal after just a few days, After a few weeks of use, regularity of the sores were controlled and happened a lot less. Also not saying it is a cure, but definitely a very successful remedy!

Update: the CBD extract became less effective, so I went back on the RSO. I honestly probably need to increase my dosage, but I really am trying to avoid the effects associated with it.

So far, old scars have not been affected by the CBD oil, However, the new wounds I get seem to be less traumatic in appearance once they heal up. If I could find a good way to incorporate it into a lotion or oil that can be easily applied, I think it would help the old scars.

Are you still using the cbd oil? If so, are the results any better? a reply to: chelsdh

Ok, I call it CBD oil, but it is RSO. Take that for what it's worth.

I can actually miss a few days now and it not have an ill effect on my wound! We are growing hemp this year, so I plan to make a similar product with the flowers from it. I'm hoping it works as well, but if not then at least I know what does help.

The oil has not stopped new cysts from appearing. Maybe I'm not taking enough, I don't know. But I do know that tomatoes seem to be a HUGE trigger and causes me a lot of pain. I do still eat them, but have cut back a lot and am going to try eliminating them altogether
