1919

No Nazis there yet.

And yes, Nazis are Left Wing.

Anything authoritarian is Left Wing.

Authority is the only way they can accomplish their agendas.

In a later reply on this thread, you offer a suggestion that maybe we need to re-asses our understanding of the political spectrum. I agree. Socialists here scream that others do not know what the term socialist means while anti-socialists holler back that socialist means something entirely different than a socialist thinks it means.
I try to stretch myself to encompass these different definitions but am reaching a breaking point.

Above, you say "Anything authoritarian is Left Wing" (breaking point for me). How do I interpret this statement. Is it that we define authoritarian differently? Maybe we define Left wing differently? Or maybe it is possible that you truly believe this in the context of the political spectrum that we agree needs to be re-defined because by all accounts that I can assess, this is just not true.

I would be grand of you to clarify this statement for me as I doubt I could give any credence to other things you have to say until I can understand how you meant this. If I may get nit-picky here for just a moment. The very statement you use, that anything authoritarian is left wing, is, in and of itself, an authoritarian statement. OK, nit-picky done.

Democracy and the US government CANNOT work with an ignorant populace!

^

'Democracy' is working perfectly. And a 'ignorant' populace is why it works.

An 'informed' populace knows democracy for what it is: MOB RULE.

And it preys on ignorance.

This nation is not a democracy. It is a constitutional REPUBLIC.

You can say that again. Anytime I venture out you can readily observe the general public acting like herds of cattle. Do not even get me started on driving or the grocery store.....Cattle, the lot of them.

Here is an old newspaper listing for the communist rules for revolution.

Sound familiar?

in searching to see if i could find the rest of this since it would appear to be cut off short, i ran into snopes calling this clipping a hoax.

Origins: A time-honored ploy in the political arena has been to discredit your opponents (and their ideas) by demonizing them, through associating them with ... well, demons. In the modern era, this has usually meant claiming the ideas your opponents advocate were implemented by Nazis or Communists, or were recognized by them as means of "softening up" a country and making it ripe for totalitarian takeover. So, for example, if you believe the film industry should be more heavily regulated to prevent it from corrupting our youth, simply reference a supposed historical document in which Communists proclaim they were able to seize power in Russia because the previous government had allowed callow youth to idle away their time watching "immoral movies," and your point is irrefutably made.

As reproduced in the example above, one purportedly genuine document of such ilk is a list of "Communist Rules for Revolution" which is typically claimed to have been discovered "in May 1919 at Dusseldorf, Germany, by allied forces" and "first printed in the United States" in the Bartlesville, Oklahoma Examiner-Enterprise. Aside from the fact that the Examiner-Enterprise is a real newspaper, none of this rings true. Language about getting the young "interested in sex" and focusing their attention on "sexy books" and
fretting about the "registration of all firearms" sounds out of place for 1919 (as this Ngram chart shows, "sexy" is a word one was far more likely to have encountered in America during the post-World War II era than in 1919), and not surprisingly, nobody has ever managed to turn up the mysterious issue of Examiner-Enterprise that supposedly printed this list. When columnist Bob Greene checked out this piece with Russian specialists at the University of Chicago and Northwestern University in the mid-1980s, they said the list was "a total fraud," "an obvious fabrication," and "an implausible concoction of American fears and phobias." (Greene also wrote: "I always wanted to meet a communist who was carrying the list around, so I could ask him what 'obloquy' means.")

I sort of get frustrated by posts like the OP. You assume the population are all stupid and ignorant and that (somehow) the OP is enlightened and informed. I don't think that is the case. The majority of people are stable and don't give a toss if their basic needs are being accommodated.

Regards

The population IS all stupid and ignorant! (Except a fairly large contingent, whose voice will never see air time).

Why else would this country be in such a freaking mess? Because people are smart and informed?

The image above is being played RIGHT NOW and Obama has even followed the order in which the actions he is taking against America, are followed just like the above list. He is too stupid to improvise himself and so he has placed 50 different highly paid Marxist loving communists to assist his destruction of the constitution, bill of rights, etc.. (Van Jones Obama's long time buddy is a publically admitted and outspoken COMMIE who is still on the White House Payroll at over 100,000 DOLLARS a YEAR!

Are you going to wait until your head is on the chopping block before you understand?

Well said, and true. It's also why our borders are being overrun, and no one in government is trying to stop it. They like the idea of filling the country with low information voters. Voting is useless, the vote is rigged.

Nope. The MAJORITY of the US is ignorant and doesn't care. Go out to the mall or the street and start asking people basic questions. They can't name the three branches of government, anything from the Constitution, who anyone is in government other than the President, etc. The OP Is right.

The US government shouts for democracy. They just exported it to Iraq and Afghanistan. Or tried to? Another thread for that one.

Democracy and respect for human rights have long been central components of U.S. foreign policy. Supporting democracy not only promotes such fundamental American values as religious freedom and worker rights, but also helps create a more secure, stable, and prosperous global arena in which the United States can advance its national interests. In addition, democracy is the one national interest that helps to secure all the others. Democratically governed nations are more likely to secure the peace, deter aggression, expand open markets, promote economic development, protect American citizens, combat international terrorism and crime, uphold human and worker rights, avoid humanitarian crises and refugee flows, improve the global environment, and protect human health.

With these goals in mind, the United States seeks to:

Promote democracy as a means to achieve security, stability, and prosperity for the entire world;

Assist newly formed democracies in implementing democratic principles;

Assist democracy advocates around the world to establish vibrant democracies in their own countries; and

Identify and denounce regimes that deny their citizens the right to choose their leaders in elections that are free, fair, and transparent.

I was all prepared to debate you, but then I read your post. Thank God we aren't, and were never intended to be, a direct democracy. It would be impossible to recover from our current state of things if that were the case.

Fortunately, the way our republic is organized, it is possible to restore things, but we'll need to start locally. It will take a re-election of congress to fix things. The trouble is that most everyone disapproves of congress, yet almost nobody wants to oust their own representatives. Fixing congress is the only way to make our republic work again.

Excellent post!

Francis Bellamy's political leaning doesn't change the fact, that our form of government is explained and spelled out by the founding fathers, and the constitution. If we were living in a democracy, you and I wouldn't be having this exchange, and this thread would not exist, because the 51% would have already voted away our right to any form of free speech.

Until the constitution is officially shredded. We are not a democracy. Though I won't argue that we have become something other than what was intended. But that's for another thread.

The Founding Fathers knew that democracies always enact uninformed illogical policies, which will evolve into a crisis, and then vote in dictators to solve the problems.

The democratic aspect of our Republic was meant to discern and veto governmental growth, not to make and use government to solve problems. There was no standing army until the South was occupied and Plains Indians were cleared out for the scandalous, government-subsidized, insolvent, railroad. The US hasn't been the Republic of the Constitution since the War to Prevent Southern Secession.

The constitutional government was supposed to be too small and powerless to effect changes of any kind. The government was supposed to be a referee, not a player. The Constitution was meant to be a coordinator, not a commander.

When politicians talk about doing whatever the people want, the government has assumed the power to intervene into anything, and is a democracy.

I believe with Abraham Lincoln, that "The legitimate object of Government is to do for a community of people whatever they need to have done but cannot do at all or cannot do so well for themselves in their separate and individual capacities."
http://wFDR 1934

It is my conviction that down in their hearts the American public- industry, agriculture, finance-want this Congress to do whatever needs to be done to raise our national income to eighty billion dollars a year.
FDR 1939

"That's the good thing as a president, I can do whatever I want," Barack Obama

The OP is right, the population needs to understand the limits of good government, or else bad government will happen, for sure, eventually.
