This is a local story here, Ottawa kansas police shot a teen 16 times while his aunt and uncle begged them not to shoot him.

They say it looked like he was going for a gun so they shot him 16 times.

16 times is freaking overkill even if he did have a gun, which his Aunt says he did not. The police had had to deal with this kid the day before and knew who he was.

Now the kid was suicidal and tried tp kill himself the day before after leaving this facebook post.

Tonight is the night goodbye everyone!!!!! It was truly a good ride! And I’m sorry for who I might of hurted (sic) and people that I may of offended, But I love all my family and I hope you don’t hold this against me

The fked up part is the 2 cops that shot him were the same 2 cops that took him to the hospital the night before for his overdose.

So they absolutely knew him and knew he had some problems, and his Aunt was yelling hey you guys know him, please don't shoot him..

And she says she thinks her and her husband could have talked him down but were told to stay back .

I just don't see why you would need 16 shots to subdue the guy.

Police in Ottawa, Kansas shot and killed an 18 year old, unarmed teen Saturday night.

Ottawa police were called about 7:50 p.m. Saturday to Orscheln Farm and Home at 2008 S. Princeton St. on a report of a person reportedly armed with a gun.

However, the family of deceased 18-year-old Joseph Jennings, said there was no gun. Ottawa Police have not confirmed that Jennings was armed either.

Ottawa Police Chief, Dennis Butler, said the officers did what they were trained to do. ”They reacted based upon the training that they’ve been given from the academy,” Butler said. “We were thankful that no officer was injured from protecting themselves from risk of great bodily harm.”

Jennings was described as a “really good boy” by family members. But he also suffered from depression, anxiety, and had horrible seizures which led to him becoming suicidal

"They reacted based upon the training that they've been given from the academy," Butler said. "We were thankful that no officer was injured from protecting themselves from risk of great bodily harm."
...
"My husband was going to tackle him. He was within arms reach. They said to get back or they were going to shoot him," Smith said.

Smith says her husband backed off and police attention turned back to Jennings.

Probably busy trying to keep up with the black males killed by police every 28 hours in your country. As you probably know, thanks to police unions, there are no requirements for PD's to report incident and statistics of incidents.
How often are unarmed black males shot dow in the US?

The articles seem to lack a lot of information.

He got bean bagged. Why? He got up from the first bagging and was bagged again and he got up again? Why?

His parents said he came to the farm "on a suicide mission."
They told the cops "if he had a gun it would be a BB gun," indicating they thought he might be armed as well?

Suicide by cop? Was he intentionally being aggressive, hoping they'd shoot him?

The articles are pretty light on facts.

I remember when the cops would bring in specialists and try to talk the person into not giving up on life. Now they're trained to kill them?

They only show up when the situation helps their racism agenda. This will only help prove that some cops are incompetent not racist.

Can't think of any reasons except maybe the following.

Print Friendly and PDF Email this page Family members of a teen who was shot at least 16 times by police in Ottawa, Kansas said this week that the 18-year-old was unarmed and suicidal when he was gunned down.

Yep, unarmed, having mental issues.. Gun him down with extreme prejudice! Sounds about par for the course in Amerika nowadays.

It seems that everyone is considered armed with a deadly weapon. It's to the point where the police yell words at a person and failure to immediately respond to the their satisfaction results in death.

Put yourself in the place of the police, a women tells you that her son is suicidal and might have a gun but if he does have a gun it`s probably just a BB gun.
A suicidal man with a gun,as the police officer do you gamble and bet your life that it is only a BB gun?do you gamble and bet your life that he doesn`t have a gun?
That`s exactly what you are doing when dealing with a suicidal person who might be armed you are gambling and betting your life on the outcome.

I think it has to do with how various tags are nested or the number used. I have seen a few odd happenings while trying to create posts with numerous tags.

edit:

try removing one set of EX tags maybe, as a test
