Maybe they don't want to reveal all the dirt they have on the tea party too. Republicans wouldn't just sit by and let innocent republicans get blacklisted by the government. What kinda group names themself after a terrorist act like the boston tea party? You don't hear about groups called "smallpox blanket democrats".

Valid point.

But what "Dirt" would that be?

The IRS already exposed all they had.

Don't you mean...the IRS exposed what they had to?

So...now Obama's minions have been caught lying to congress???? Our representatives? THAT...I believe is an impeachable offence. But then again, an impeachment attempt is what the dems want. Tough call.

WOW. So many here, with leaning to the Right or Libertarian have been proven correct in stating that the emails would still be backed up????

Say ain't so. I can't believe it.

Where are all the Progressives??? The same ones telling many of us ATS'ers that are currently in IT and have dealt with the Govt systems....

Your grandma with her 10 year old P4 running XP with the fans all full of cat hair running Outlook Express....

I can believe that wouldn't be backed up, and that if it crashed the emails would be lost.

I will never believe a government stooge working at the IRS can do anything on his or her computer - be it typing a word doc, visiting a website or getting/sending an email - without there being a record of it.

The fact is the Obama administration targeted conservative groups to help sustain advantage before the 2012 elections. Just as this viciously evil administration allowed 4 Americans to be murdered in Benghazi and then lie about it.

Are you folks that helped that side rig and get this bozo into office happy?

How will you answer to your children and grandchildren when they ask you one day, "What the heck happened to America?"

Here's another fun tidbit of malfeasance, the DOJ lawyer representing the IRS used to work for Lois Lerner! Good grief the Obama administration is a text book case for the integration of mafia strategies and Chicago politics.

Congressional investigators made another call for the appointment of an IRS scandal special prosecutor after discovering that key lawyers for the scandal-plagued agency have a “conflict of interest” in the case.

Department of Justice tax division attorney Andrew Strelka, who represented the IRS in litigation related to the scandal, worked under Lerner at the IRS Exempt Organizations division from 2008 to 2010. While at the agency, Strelka was part of the IRS’ conservative targeting scheme, according to documents obtained by the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform[

DOJ Lawyers Have ‘Conflict of Interest’ In IRS Case

"Conflict of interest???" This is completely criminal!

It will always protect itself, so it can continue to grow larger.

No doubt. If this doesn't qualify as collusion and a verified (democrat) political conspiracy I don't know what does. I think they should use the RICO act on all these parasites. Life imprisonment would be too good for them IMO.

The vise is clamping tighter and tighter.

People see the complete scandal and corruption.

Does this mean Lois Lerner is no longer the 5th Baroness of Shillington ?

We've read here many times that dates on servers can be manipulated. So I guess fake emails can be presented too as "Hey we told you there's nothing to see here." I doubt rewriting emails and dating them appropriately isn't all that difficult to do, but maybe a forensics specialist can try to match them to recipient emails if they haven't messed with them as well.

I think the only way to completely verify an e-mail would be to find its trail through a network. Like foot prints. There would be no way to prove as authentic interoffice memos, but a message sent through the internet might always leave something detectable, like a time of switching from this to that.

Enough time has passed to artifice anything that is made of fungible electric blips.

Well it looks like Judicial Watch does not understand what they are reporting:
Lerner’s emails were recycled

Here is the key to the article:

The official said DOJ lawyers were only referring to tapes backing up IRS emails that were routinely recycled twice a year before 2013, when the investigation into the Tea Party controversy began.

The IRS has acknowledged those procedures were in place since it told lawmakers in June that Lerner’s computer crashed in 2011, leaving the agency unable to recover many of her emails over a two-year span.

John Koskinen, the IRS commissioner, has testified before Congress several times over the last two months that the tapes backing up Lerner’s emails were recycled.

“There is no newly divulged back-up system that was not previously known about,” the official said. “Government lawyers were simply referring to the back-up system at the IRS that Commissioner Koskinen had already disclosed.”

So what will take so long is not to review the backups but to look at each tape and see if some of the previous backup was not overwritten. Right-Wing fantasyland is awesome to watch though...

It wouldn't be that easy, and easily detectable. IF you start messing with a clock on a system, exscecially exchange 2010, you are going to have it stop connecting to a domain controller and the datastore won't come online. It's pretty easy through a chain of backups to see if they are real or not. Which mostlikely they are real.

So it took the progressive's techs this long to create fake emails and place them on the backup? You know...emails from Lerner saying "I just love everyone, even those nice Conservatives!" and other bull.

Of course it was a big lie.

No one in IT, or frankly anyone with government agency experience, ever believed these emails were lost.

The fact they worked so hard not to disclose them makes them all the more important.

Of course now they have had time to manipulate what the emails say.

This is all a bunch of bs from the start. We needed to have these emails turned over immediately upon request.

This just keeps getting better and better. Now it also appears that in a mad dash to destroy any evidence Lois Lerner's BlackBerry was put to death.. er, destroyed.

The IRS filing in federal Judge Emmet Sullivan’s court reveals shocking new information. The IRS destroyed Lerner’s Blackberry AFTER it knew her computer had crashed and after a Congressional inquiry was well underway. As an IRS official declared under the penalty of perjury, the destroyed Blackberry would have contained the same emails (both sent and received) as Lois Lerner’s hard drive.

IRS Shocker: Filing Reveals Lerner Blackberry Destroyed

Gotta tie up all those loose ends and incriminating details. They are total criminals.

Maybe you should make a new thread with this info. Maybe that would hit the front page. This is incredible news and it is being ignored for the most part.

eh, various financiers, interests in conflict with the wishes of the majority.

also ridiculous amounts of money from donors in high places.

a reply to: BobAthome

nope; it was an act of vandalism against a private company who had received a bailout for tea they weren't able to sell.

the east-india company was a major corporation in that time and place, it had a lot of friends in government, but was focused on making money for its shareholders/owners.

I think it could be compared to: say radicals burning down wall-street buildings at night(when few people were in them) or something, millions of dollars being lost in todays money-type thing.

I don't think you like Thom Hartmann but here he is anyway;

a bailout for tea they weren't able to sell.

gee typical Auristocractic Buracracidic thinking,, OF COURSE THEY COULD'T sell TEA, it was a protest,, "no TAXATION"
unless u lived in the same Country.
That Country was called New.
so first one who had "dibs",,,,was some Italian guy. ie "I Declare this new world for KING and Country" stuff.

and on it went,,
Its why he turned down a Kingship,,,it was part of the deal.

Plus, every server that handles a message puts a date and time stamp on it, so effectively, you'd have to alter the time on every server in the chain.
