Pastor calls to imprison gays for ‘ten years hard labor’ with new constitutional amendment

A pastor who uses his Internet platform to teach political lessons based on conservative Christian ideology has proposed a constitutional amendment to punish LGBT people for “ten years in prison at hard labor.”

In a video posted to his PreachingPolitics.com website last month that was flagged by the Good As You blog on Monday, Pastor Michael V. Williams asserts that Christians have been “increasingly tolerant” of gay people over the last 50 years.

10 years at hard labor for being gay. That should straighten them right out eh?

Williams’ proposed amendment to the U.S. Constitution declares that the “United States of America is a Christian nation with Judeo-Christian ethics, morals, principles and values.”

And it decrees that the “practice of homosexuality in the United States of America and in all its territories and possessions, and in all its States, Counties and Cities shall be a felony punishable by ten years in prison at hard labor.”

It's this kind of over the top Conservative ideology that the Democrats will use to paint Republicans as extremists.

And as ATS leans further and further to the conservative right; I wonder if any members agree with Rev. Mike?

But no, this guy is a twat and his intolerance is just another example of a dying breed. His proposition isn't going to even be considered by any legislature, let alone passed by any. He should stick to his day job of deceiving Americans with mythology instead of trying to come up with laws to govern the people of this country.

This is what's wrong with religion. As a Christian I know gays and don't have one problem with them. Many Christians actually don't have beefs with anyone, but mainstream, media-focused Christianity is a perversion of false doctrine. No wonder many go against religion when the Vatican is in control of such evil.

this is why America needs to vigorously separate religion from politics...400 to 600 years of church rule (called the dark ages) proved that we cannot let this happen again. frankly, I think there should be more restrictions in the U.S. regarding religion, and the way it influences the political process. but, that's just me.

Instead of promoting love etc. he is promoting 10 years in prison for someone who is gay. Let's face it...the guy is nuts!

AND equally as repellent to ME by his attempt to DEVIDE is with his myopic vision.

The are estimates that 9 million of Americans identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender (2011) ... at an average cost of $30,600 per U.S. inmate it'll only cost us taxpayers $275 billion a year to lock them up.

Seeing how the Vatican protects child molesters, helped pervert scripture to divide people, is a gigantic center of luxury (not so humble like Christ), helped kill millions of natives across the world....I don't think I need to provide links. Everyone knows the Vatican helps perpetuate the hate on the planet. Christianity is love, for you, me, and everyone else. Preachers who pass the plate around then preach false doctrine and hateful remarks shouldn't be trusted imo.

The Vatican is extremism clothed in goodness. All religions have extremism, look at the Middle East currently, and if you want to look closer to home any mega church or well-dressed preacher will serve as a good example. All the best.

My best friend is gay, there's no way I'd let them take him. No more tolerance anymore, who really won WWII? Everything's divide and extremism lately, too bad we can't see it's the powers that do it and not your average citizen too busy and tired to comprehend the reason behind this hatred.

holder?...what holder? the attorney general of the united states?...this guy's both a conservative and a Christian, how can you say otherwise without sounding looney yourself? you can't just dismiss facts because you don't like them, and then make something up.

I agree with this guy that there are over 500 religions that are a waste of time.
There's just one religion we disagree on.

While I may accept homosexuality as something negative I don't see the point of locking them up for hard labour mainly because it's not their fault or doing. It's up to the individual to find out and make up one's mind about the subject. If that man had greater faith I'm sure he would conclude everything happens for a reason God may know and works in mysterious ways.

The whole idea sounds like a premise to a bad porno.

Well then he better revoke his 401(c) tax exempt status on his church then since he would be mixing politics into his religion. Let's see how that goes over.

The most rabid anti-gays in politics (including J.Edgar Hoover, who, though he had a gay relationship for many years with Clyde (Junior) Tolson) are gay. Hoover didn't even think he was homosexual!

I'm sure this guy Williams is gay and is experiencing 'homosexual panic' or is in denial, or is just diverting attention.

He should be pitied. Last thing he wants is for this actually to be made into law.
