Boko Haram declares Islamic Caliphate in Nigeria

Well, it seems as if declaring an Islamic state is the new craze. First the self declared caliphate of ISIS. Then, the alleged Emirate declared in Libya. Now, Boko Haram has allegedly seized the Nigerian city of Gwoza, before declaring it an Islamic Caliphate. The Nigerian military reject the claim, and state that the sovereignty of Nigeria is still intact.

The leader of Boko Haram has claimed that the Nigerian armed group has created an "Islamic caliphate" in a northeastern town, a claim quickly rejected by the military.

"Thanks be to Allah who gave victory to our brethren in [the town of] Gwoza and made it part of the Islamic caliphate," Abubakar Shekau said in the 52-minute video revealed on Sunday.

The military rejected the claim, saying in a statement that the "sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Nigerian state is still intact".

Reacting to Shekau's video, Nigerian Defence Spokesman Chris Olukolade said: "Any group of terrorists laying claim to any portion of the country will not be allowed to get away with that expression of delusion and crime.

"Operations to secure that area from the activities of the bandits [are] still ongoing."

Earlier this month, heavily armed Boko Haram fighters stormed Gwoza, spraying the town with automatic gunfire, burning houses and overrunning the palace of its traditional ruler, the Emir of Gwoza.

I feel sorry for groups like this.
They think they are going to be welcome, but if it ever came to a position where the groups came face to face, ISIS would just shoot them all in the back and claim Nigeria for their own.

If anything, it shows how amateur they are.

I think it relates to Obama's inaction on the events in the ME... and his smiling, quick-change into golfing clothing...on to the links in 5 minutes after his presser where he professed concern over an American reporter being beheaded.

These jokers would do well to keep a low profile. They're probably lucky that ISIS is diverting attention because they're so poorly trained and equipped that they would be nothing but a fine red mist if the West or even China got involved.

When I looked into what a Caliph was, there has to be a large number of false ones before their real one gets here. So this craze has a purpose.

Actually no need we already have the Religious Right trying to make their own Caliphate under the banner of Christianity just ask Ted Cruz and many other Theocrats in the government. In fact they are called the American Taliban for a reason.......
