Swedish mounted police has charged into group of protesters in effort to disperse them;

Here is an interesting quote:

“We were forced to ride in because masked demonstrators had moved to the outside of the square and we needed to make some arrests,” Ewa-Gun Westford, police spokesman, told the TT news agency.

The full story is down, choose your favorite propaganda outlet.

To me it seems like US police force should get in touch with Swedes to show them some less antique techniques to disperse a demonstrators.

Surely I think being trampled by horse is not something we should expect to see in 21st century Sweden?

At least 10 people were injured in the Swedish city of Malmö after local police unleashed a mounted charge at participants of a rally against Sweden’s neo-Nazi party. Clashes with police erupted as anti-fascist activists attempted to block a rival rally.

Brutal charge: Swedish horse police trample anti-Nazi rally

More than 2,000 people had turned up to protest against a meeting held by the neo-Nazi Svenskarnas Parti (The Swedes’ Party) in a square near the Oresund Bridge which connects Sweden and Denmark on Saturday afternoon. The protest soon turned violent, with activists attacking police and horses, and in an attempt to disperse the crowd, police rode in full gallop through a group of 300-400 people.

Police arrested nine people at the march where supporters of the Party of the Swedes were confronted by a counter demonstration by opponents who consider them neo-Nazis.

I find it rather interesting that of the links you posted only Reuters "neglected" to mention the Neo-Nazi portion of the story. They were probably the only MSM outlet that got the memo that the West now supports Neo-Nazis. After all just look at Ukraine.

And yeah, those cops would have fit right in at #Ferguson.

They must have the same police training manual as the U.S. police. Police brutality, there's no other way to describe it.

while I agree I think I would rather like to be sprayed by tear gas than trampled on by a horse...

Not really surprising as the LEOs mentality tends to lean to the extreme right 'power trippin' and probably is more sympathetic to the Nazi ideology.

Broad brush, I know but it comes from my experience as a CIT trainer.

You ignore history i guess. These are unarmed humans, mounted cavalry is VERY effective against masses of unarmed humans. Horses are incredibly strong and intimidating. the riders can look down at the crowds seeing more of what is going on. They can literally push crowds of people where humans alone could not.

In the US horses are still used in cities by police departments as well. It's not as common as it used to be though.

even small kids know that "horses are VERY effective against masses..."

my whole point and the reason why I started this thread is that Police Charging on Horses into group of Demonstrators in Malmo, Sweden in 2014 caught me by surprise as I see it as more brutal than using our ordinary beloved and well respected tear gas.

Would not call people armed with stone used in roads and throwing NH3 on the police wearing masks as unarmed humans. One guy even had 2 hammers with him. A peaceful protestor do not have two hammers with him.

There are people in Sweden that are itching for a fight and some of these cause trouble. I dislike racism but would never join the radicals in their protest since their agenda is screwed up.

The reports say about five were injured. Five. The report also says the police galloped through crowds of 300 - 400 people several times. Five were injured? That's the injury count you get when a crowded McDonalds runs out of ketchup.

And these were people who were not charged until they started beating on the horses? You're fine with that? If there was any innocence there it was in the horses. But, anything to make the police react is fair game, I understand you. Do anything to cause pain and suffering. Remember, the goal is to make the police do something, anything. Then we can use that as the centerpiece of a new brutality story.

This is a stupid story, stupid on the face of it. When a policeman writes out a stupid ticket, I wonder if he's trying to meet a quota set by his bosses. What am I supposed to think when I see a stupid story written out?
