good to see Rumsfeld finally admit what the rest of the world has known all along.

www.informationclearinghouse.info...

"Muslims see American policies as inimical to their values, American rhetoric about freedom and democracy as hypocritical and American actions as deeply threatening."

correct except for the fact that it is restricted to Muslims - people the world over have been seeing US govt policy and rhetoric as extremely hypocritical for a long, long time.

First off this is a report that in no way puts these words in Rumsfelds mouth - so there is no admission from Rumsfeld as your header implies - is there?

Secondly it seems the article you have cited basically says that we should increase propaganda? IE: lies to these people in order to win them over?
I say drop the pretense's and tell-em the truth.

The report says that the US is now engaged in a “global and generational struggle of ideas” which it is rapidly losing. In order to reverse the trend, the US must make “strategic communication” – which includes the dissemination of propaganda and the running of military psychological operations – an integral part of national security. The document says that “Presidential leadership” is needed in this “ideas war” and warns against “arrogance, opportunism and double standards”.

Truth be told as it were, your either with us or against us - take your pick.

in no way out these words in Rumsfelds mouth??

"The mea culpa is contained in a shockingly frank “strategic communications” report, written this autumn by the Defence Science Board for Pentagon supremo Donald Rumsfeld."

Yup, any good leader will commission pro and con reports in order to make decisions, I find it refreshing that Rumsfeld considers the con argument in his daily activities.

To use a con report as a hammer of criticism is misleading at best, when this dedicated public servant is only doing the proper thing in commissioning this report - if he in fact did commission this report.

Makes me wonder what the "pro" report said.
