But you are the one that thinks pink cookies are an entitlement.

I'm so confused by right rage sometimes.

Could you point out where I stated that.

Its always someones else fault in the usa, the new generation is getting fatter and fatter, the cost of healthcare is skyrocketing, but its obamas fault. What happened to common sense.

Huh?

The cost of healthcare is going up? I thought Obamacare took care of that.

Common sense would dictate that parents would be able to teach their children and provide guidance for them.

Government should worry about delivering mail, fighting wars and building roads.

Why the hell should they worry about a damned cookie.

Good point. Just more distractions for us, eh?
It is in their means to do just that it seems......

How much money is wasted because people are fat and lazy and need more medical attention than a healthier population, try to educate people on eating right, and all you hear is damn those socialist forcing us to be healthy.

A kid should not eat more than 16 grams of sugar a day, a 200 calorie cookie is 1/10 of what i should be having a day, and im active.

In most places the parents run the schools via a school board. I know our local school board members personally, and fairly well. They are good people with good intentions. And they can push some weight around. But for the most part, they just toe a line and thats that.

The perception of freedom....that is what people see. Perception is reality. Meanwhile, that land you own....you pay "rent" to your county every year.

We should kill the diabetics then. Look at what THEY cost society!

True. But is it the government's responsibility or the parent(s)?

Personally, pineapple is a preferred "treat" in our house. We try to avoid junk food. But it is a choice WE make, not one that is determined by a controlling entity.

The parents can exert their responsibility by packing up a brown bag lunch. Its quite simple.

When my son was eating Atkins, we sent his lunch as we could not expect the school to invest in a high protein diet just for him. I know....different situation, but it still stands: if you are not in favor of what is offered in the school lunchroom, send a lunch.

This just smacks of Facebook activism to me.

Thanx! I understand the reality of Illusion!
Perceptions of what 'they' want us to see.
It is and has been B.S.
I teach my kids, all grown now, the realities of this era.
They too now understand it,
and can see how it is used on them in their daily activities!
They are spreading this reality of illusion to their friends,
and so on and so on......

It is good to see some of the younger generations awake already!

Parents could and have been. What irritates me is someone thinking that they should be the one to dictate whether a cookie is too much or not.

I get ya.

I would hazard a guess that at least 20% of our laws relate to someone telling someone else what they can and cannot have.

Come on beez, diabeties comes mostly from having a bad diet, people need to put there big boy pants and start understanding that there part of the problem. A healthier nation would make for a better society in general. I pay more in insurance because i smoke, fat people should pay up or lose some weight. Its common sence

I think home schooling is an excellent solution to any problem one might have with the schools, and all puns aside tip of the hat to you for that.

I also kind of get the tradition argument- really- because I'm quite unreasonably supportive of my old high school mascot, the Rajahs, and even our bitter rivals, the Arabs.

That being said there are some American traditions that need to change- like poorly supervised schools and juvenile diabetes.

I think what's 10 times scarier than removing the cookies is the fact that kids are no longer aloud to talk in the cafeteria.

But! There are schools that DO NOT let the students take their own lunch!
They are afraid the kids might have some junk food in them!

People are angry because people are complaining about government taking away a 40 year tradition.

Sounds to me like you're saying that pink cookies are an entitlement.

Isn't that what you are saying?

Sure it is, except for the fact that both parents have to work to pay all the government mandated bills now.

that is the fall back: if the parents run the schools, then you put a stop to that.

Seriously. We ignore the stupid rules in our local school. And, when needed, the principle and I have it out. We did it over a tishirt last year. And 4 years ago we had it out over bullying (basically, that my son had a constitutional right to defend himself...and he did).

I don't know how other states are. But in Texas parents have quite a bit of control written into the laws that govern school districts at a state level.

I can't really fault your take on it.

My belief stems from individuals having the ability and choice to make bad decisions if they want to.

In a society where we all pay in and have a socialized health plan, then everyone's health becomes everyone's concern.

That's why I'm against that type of plan.

This needs to be repeated.

Pump 'em full of medications, then make them sit down and shut up.

Force a human to act unnaturally long enough, and it creates lifelong trauma.
