I love how half the people in this thread are decrying the rest of humanity for not having common sense. When they do whats quoted above regularly. The idea of common sense. That is the problem right there. Everyone thinks they have common sense. They think the side and view they have is the common sense side. So because of that. They think the people on the other side are stupid, have no common sense, and should be ignored, no matter what they say. This eventually leads to them wishing death on the other side.

That is how people are. They lie to themselves everyday of their lives. If they did not absolutely believe in their own brand of bull-feces. They would spend all their time huddled in a dark corner crying. Their heads would eventually explode and the bits that are left over would float away into space. Never to be seen again.

Riiiiiight. Because if we gave total power to the conservatives, then there would be peace and joy and happiness everywhere - no wars, no dead civilians, no problems. Wasn't there just a thread recently about how everyone in Iceland was grieving because the police had shot their first perp? Isn't Iceland like the 3rd most socially progressive country in the world? The U.S. is ranked 16th in progressiveness. If you ask me, we need to be more progressive, not less.

Thanks for reminding me why I always stop scrolling when ever that angelic avy catchs my eye.

Just a pointless observation. What it really comes down to is a natural human perception. We view things in groups.

If every human being was prone to be a lone-human, not wanting to associate with others, not wanting to live with/near others, etc...most of this would never happen. We also group other people and label them. They are "Russian", they are "black", they are "poor". Individually...none of this matters. But when we are part of a group, and "they" are part of a group...then the problem begins. As lone creatures, you may have one person kill another, but you would never have one person kill a group, or a group kill another group...because there wouldn't be groups.

So...if we could re-engineer ourselves (which we can't) to be lone-humans and view everyone else as a lone-human with no groups, no labels, etc...that would end. Can't and won't happen...just a pointless observation.

But the bottom line is, there is no stopping this.

In a world where ignorance is the norm, I suggest we instead practice uncommon sense.

Not trying to offend the atheists here, but, if God gave us all common sense so that there was no evil on the earth, what purpose would heaven serve? How would heaven achieve perfection? Those in heaven must look at us here and say "wow, that's a strange twist on evil".

Common sense and doing what is right kind of go hand in hand. The problem is we aren't seeing a whole lot of right, either that or were not looking in the right place. What the world lacks now is a simple form of principles, and yet we keep making life more complicated which may be taking us as species father and father from the simplistic. I have heard it said that it is easier to hate then it is to love (our fellow man). Maybe love is the road less traveled. One often wonders.

Name a time when this was not the common norm.

When will you realize this is being fomented from a source far beyond "humanity".

We read daily about this conflict or that and see sides drawn in support of this action or that and all the while civilians are caught in the crossfire. I haven't read too many responses or threads discussing the people caught in the middle. Most of the time many here try to justify the killings as being warranted for this reason or that.

Reprisal killings are never justified, whether they happen in the Israeli/Palestinian, Syrian/Rebel, Ukraine/Russian, Vietnam/US, USSR/Afghan, US/Afghan, Iraq part I or II etc conflicts, so on and so forth or not! *If I've left out your favorite pet online gorefest then forgive me, it's early and I haven't had my 4th cup of coffee yet.

It didn't work for the NAZI's, The Soviets, the Vietcong, The US, The French, The UK, The Japanese, The Communist North Koreans ad infinitum throughout history.

They also are not simply collateral damage/pawns either! They're human beings with families, loved ones and close friends. The vast majority probably had dreams of a better life. I cant imagine one civilian enjoying watching their Father, Mother, Brother, Sister, Son or Daughter being blown to bits.

It doesn't matter which side does the killing, It's wrong, it's not justifiable.

I have no issues if grown adults want to blow the piss out of each other, have at it. Leave the Children and non combatants the hell out of it. Mankind is at war alright, not JUST over resources, Greed, Religious intolerance, political ideology, yadda yadda blah blah blah, but more importantly over losing our sensitivity/empathy for the sufferings of our fellow human being.

We must stop the killing or lose the war.

So now to your original question "What the hell happen to common sense?"

It was sold out many many years ago and compromised for the wrath, greed, sloth, pride, lust, envy, and gluttony. Although I am not religious the seven deadly sins cover it pretty well.
