Hospitals in the U.S. Get Ready for Ebola
Dr. Thomas R. Frieden, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, has said such a case is inevitable in the United States, and the agency this month issued the first extensive guidelines for hospitals on how recognize and treat Ebola patients.
….The C.D.C. says that health care workers treating Ebola patients need only wear gloves, a fluid-resistant gown, eye protection and a face mask to prevent becoming infected with the virus. That is a far cry from the head-to-toe “moon suits” doctors, nurses and aides have been seeing on television reports about the outbreak.
….But Dr. Michael V. Callahan, an infectious disease specialist at Massachusetts General Hospital who has worked in Africa during Ebola outbreaks, does not think it is wrong for hospitals to opt for more protective equipment.
The minimal precautions recommended by the C.D.C. “led to the infection of my nurses and physician co-workers who came in contact with body fluids,” Dr. Callahan said. “I understand the desire to maintain absolute protection in U.S. hospitals.”
Dr. Justin Fairless, an emergency physician in Tulsa, Okla., said that health care workers in Africa “are wearing the highest level of protection, but the C.D.C. recommendation lets us go down to the lowest level of protection.” …..
Didn't we see that in the US DHS drills? Zombie apocalypse drills where they were shooting sick looking people?

Liberia's armed forces have reportedly been given orders to shoot people trying to illegally cross the border from neighbouring Sierra Leone, which was closed to stem the spread of Ebola.
Soldiers stationed in Bomi and Grand Cape Mount counties, which border Sierra Leone, were to 'shoot on sight' any person trying to cross the border, said deputy chief of staff, Colonel Eric Dennis, according to local newspaper the Daily Observer.
The order comes after border officials reported people continued to cross the porous border illegally.
Illegal crossings were a major health threat, said Mulbah, 'because we don't know the health status of those who cross at night'.
Shoot-on-Sight Order in Ebola-Wary Liberia
This is getting pretty serious. I wonder if this could and/or will happen in other countries. Will other countries give "shoot-on-sight" orders to illegals crossing in from countries with outbreaks?
Mr. Mulbah does make a point in that nobody really knows what viruses or diseases people could be carrying. If people are illegally entering another country from one where there is an outbreak, the only other way to "attempt" to contain it is to put every illegal into a quarantined area, and to individually test every person.

Edit: Guess we know what the drills were for and maybe they had advanced notice of this outbreak. Or was it planned?

this ebola situation is primed to spiral out of control. the next 10 days or so will either see an explosion of confirmed cases or a sudden cessation of the spread.
I can't believe it's still running. Almost like somebody tampered with it.
Ebola's got an R nought of between 1 and 4. If it goes airborne that'll increase six fold. It won't matter anymore after that. You'll have to imagine an Earth with 60 to 80 percent less inhabitants.
Using data from two epidemics [in Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) in 1995 and in Uganda in 2000], we built a mathematical model for the spread of Ebola haemorrhagic fever epidemics taking into account transmission in different epidemiological settings. We estimated the basic reproduction number (R0) to be 2·7 (95% CI 1·9–2·8) for the 1995 epidemic in DRC, and 2·7 (95% CI 2·5–4·1) for the 2000 epidemic in Uganda.
Epidemiological modelling based on the data from previous EBOV outbreaks has produced a basic reproduction number (R0) of 2·7 with a 95% confidence range of 1.9 to 4.1 (Legrand et al., 2007). This R0 is comparable to influenza (Mills et al., 2004) and would seem to be comfortably within the range required to generate an EVD pandemic. In answer to the question of why this has not already occurred in human history, perhaps the most persuasive response is that EVD very fortunately only emerged into human populations around the time of its discovery in the mid-1970s (Walsh et al., 2005), by which time we were fairly equipped to deal with it in remote low population density settings. Whether we can contain it within a large city, should the necessity to do so arise, remains to be seen.
Yes scary, but I think it was a justified connection to the drills and the DHS posters we've all seen. The "skeptics" said at the time, "Zombies are cool and in, so that's why they used them." Now there's a real connection to those drills and what we're seeing happening in Africa. Will we see this happening on these shores next?

Jeez man that is a scary link you make.
I hope its way off the mark, but I don't know these days.
Have people noticed the way the headlines have gone from bad to worse over the last few days?
Here are just 3 sites which claim the outbreaks are "spiralling out of control."

This is far from over, and is getting more serious by the day.
It's just not going to go airborne though is it? Ebola is very treatable because it doesn't spread too well, it's the lack of simple equipment such as gloves that was/is the problem. It is spread in similar ways as HIV, as in via bodily secretions or contact with blood.
Are you absolutely certain of that R0?
Liberia declares curfew and orders quarantine of 50,000 slum dwellers
Soldiers Seal Off Liberian Slum
Security forces deployed Wednesday to enforce a quarantine around a slum in the Liberian capital, stepping up the government's fight to stop the spread of Ebola and unnerving residents.
….On Wednesday, armed soldiers and riot police began blocking anyone from entering or leaving the neighborhood. A resident saw a coast guard boat patrolling waters around the area.
…."Prices of things have been doubled here," he said.

But your right, if MSM is to believed then it's as if this current strain that's kicking ass has been tampered with or the epidemic it's causing has been severely neglected. The scaremongering is causing a hype though, people are believing any and every fake report that's coming out regarding Ebola.
Personally I see nothing more stupid than the idea of killing people just incase they have Ebola, they clearly have no idea how that virus works. Heck I'm a nobody in no position of power whatsoever and I know the basics of how Ebola is contracted.
Pooh excuse.
And your proof, or evidence, or even your shoddy source material, to prove that you are not just a bored troll...

HIV was also designed to attack a certain gene that only black people primarily have as well. Don't forget that part. Ebola, on the other hand, is designed to take everybody out who hasn't had the ultra secretive "cure".
Some government sanctioned both be made, and while France has had a cure for HIV since the 80s (and been repressed in releasing it ever since), we know Ebola has been tampered with and also has a cure.
