Never trust anything that can track your history, but the way that today things are run everybody that are behind profits and surveillance either government or corporate are free to target anybody in the net without restrictions.

Go to your hosts file add all the bs sites you never want to see and pair them with loopback.
www.googleapis.com 127.0.0.1
www.someothersite.com 127.0.0.1
Locating the hosts file and modifying it can be searched up. It takes just a few seconds and works forever.

Tin Foil hat mode on.
Of course we are being spied on!
You must be aware that NHS and Homeland Security do not take sites like ATS lightly.
If you are on ATS you MUST expect to be spied on.

I've been in computers since 1989 and continue today. In short...everyone online can be tracked. Most are, but by companies interested in selling information about your use of sites, and product interest. The NSA and god knows who else have very little interest in people spouting conspiracy theories, etc. Yes...they could capture every single character passed on the internet but that is difficult to review. Tracking occurs even if the a website doesn't want it to. As soon as the website uses a third party system (ads, google, etc.) there is tracking. And blocking website level tracking would still leave the "agencies" with the ability to track. I would be MUCH MORE WORRIED if a website said "you can't be tracked here" because they are lying.
Bottom line. You shouldn't be any more, or any less worried on ATS than on Microsoft, Google or Walmart. There is nothing that can truly be done to stop it...completely. So...say or post what you want and stop worrying. There is still freedom of speech in this country. Just don't do something stupid like yelling "fire!" in a crowded theater. ATS and the internet is a crowded theater...watch your words. And if you want true privacy...only speak to people in person, in a private room and even then, only people you trust.

But, they (the alphabet soup people and the military spies) are here on ATS
they DO try to shut down threads they don't like through any tactics possible.
So if you have less than harmless and non-violent tendencies you are ok, but if you express even the tiniest urge to act out and express it here on ATS, you can expect to have a government file on you. Just be aware!

That's true of ANY internet location, not just ATS, nor is it indicative of any sort of collusion. "They" try to watch everywhere, make their lists, and check them twice, and "they" also try to shape and sway public opinion through the same venues - ATS is nothing special in that regard. It's really pretty easy to spot if you look for it, and wait for some politically charged issue to come up - "they" crawl out of the woodwork and use a specific, defines series of tactics to attempt to accomplish the goals of whomever they answer to.
