If the Yucatan event happened only 19 mya, to pick one of your examples, we should expect to see lifeforms at a similar stage of evolutionary development as extant in 46 million year old fossils today (comet or asteroid struck Yucatan peninsula approximately 65 million years ago, subtracting 19 million years from that gives us 46 million years ago).

You may have a point in all this, and apologies if it has glided over my head, but the only overt thing I am seeing is someone showing us just how little they know about evolution. Care to elaborate?

It's unlikely to be the education system as such, as similar education works in other countries. From studies I have read, the problem educators have is that students can already have erroneous preconceived beliefs regarding evolution, which are resistant to change, by the time they start learning about it. Very likely to be a result of religious indoctrination. It can also result in the education system churning out people who use it be more inventive with pseudo science to further their beliefs

It was long thought that primitive and superstitious beliefs proliferated in poorer less healthy and educated societies (particularly 2nd- 3rd world societies). Though the US seemed to always buck that idea. Until genuine studies were conducted, which explained why the US itself lags so far behind the rest of the modern world.

It is quite right that science based educators focus on this aspect, but what can also be overlooked is the societal conditions in general that also correlate with this. Look at the bible belt for example compared to the rest of the US, which itself compares poorly to the rest of the 1st world. Where certain STD infections are at epidemic proportions, abortion and unwanted and teen pregnancy, divorce levels, poverty, cardiovascular and cancer rates and just about all negative indicators higher than their national average (which is itself, quite poor)...

the Bible Belt is trending in an unholy way. Mississippi, Alabama, and Louisiana have the most obese populations, the highest amount of cancer deaths, and the fewest teeth. Along with South Carolina, those states also have the most cases of Gonorrhea and Chlamydia. In the southeast, the gonorrhea rate per 100,000 people is over 100, and the chlamydia rate per 100,000 people is 400 plus.

Translation: the STD numbers in the respective states are high enough to be classified as epidemic.

Compare to "promiscuous" and secular populations in Europe where similar STD infections are considered "eradicated" in some areas, where people remain married longer, have far less incidence of abortion or teen and unwanted pregnancy, are healthier, have a better share of wealth, less poverty etc.

So it looks like there are deep societal issues involved, underneath it all.

Healthier, more equitable and tolerant societies = acceptance of science and evolution.

Less healthy societies - belief in paranormal explanations.
