Amen brother. We Christians do bear responsibility
for we are not always following the commandments and the ways Jesus taught us. It is easy for nonbelievers to call us out on our hypocrisy and they are right to do so for we have sin plenty. Yet we still have to try and set examples. Lately we have not been since we been too occupied with the pleasures of this earth and not putting God first. I feel this is the reason that this nation is heading downhill. So when we try to put God back in the nation, we are met with resistance for they have lost faith. For that we have ourselves to blame. Now we are trying to salvage the last of our Christian principles but I fear it is too late. The American spirit of libertas has taken hold of this nation and destroying the last vestige of Christianity. Now we can only sit tight and endure the tribulation and persecution of all types and take up the cross with Christ.

Yes, I don't believe its like the situation with Jonah and Ninevah. I believe we are at the end. The signs are all around for those that are awake right now. We do not know the day or the hour, but we do see the signs.

Indeed, over the course of my lifetime.I have saw a huge desensitization to darkness, violence, and evil.

In the 1980's.....you had simple video games like a frog trying to cross a road...complete with ice cream van like happy music.

Today you have video games about robbing banks, killing police officers, destroying things, assassinating people, complete with full bore heavy metal and gangsta rap music....and also 44.1 k digitally sampled sounds of humans giving blood curdling screams when you attack or kill them.

I use modern pro-wrestling as a great example of desensitization.

One-sided? Yeah.

83% of Americans are Christian, or 267,260,000.

13% of Americans have no religion, or 41,860,000.

I will admit that being outnumbered six-to-one by Christians is a bit one-sided.

Actually "the world" is good with believing what they believe, and letting you believe what you believe.

It's the Christians who insist on everyone agreeing with them.

I keep looking, and yet, all I see are more and more Christians, churches on every corner, ... where's the destruction you're referring to?

Your source article relates to PUBLIC school officials establishing Christianity upon students.

That's against our Constitution; it has nothing to do with atheists or the non-religious.

And ... that's it! The rest of your post is just a number of shotgun attempts to make your fears sound real.

Also, if it is an "attack" to post opinions about someone else's worldview in public ... why are YOU attacking the non-religious?

Aren't you supposed to be turning your cheek or loving others as you love yourself or something?

EDIT: Oh and before anyone goes there ...

94.6% of the US is open space ... area of US is 3,805,927 sq. mi. ... populated area is therefore roughly 205,520 sq. miles.

Census Bureau
State Area Measurments

Given that there are approximately 300,000 Christian churches in the US, Fast facts about American religion, that comes out to an average of 1.49 churches per square mile or, as I suggested one on every corner.

I'm glad somebody else noticed this. Atheists on ATS, which have become a very vocal little crowd, will often blast Christians, mock Christians, and use all kinds of blasphemy.

However, they will vehemently defend Islam. I think they are even more confused than we suspect.

You can't convince non believers to believe. They tried it with the Spanish Inquisition. It failed despite the threat of burning non believers at the stake.
I've.

OH yeah, who's ever heard of Christians being persecuted before! That is a shocker indeed!

Can you point to a post by a non-religious member that is "defending" Islam the religion?

Rather than defending the rights, say of Muslim Americans or of American freedom of religion from Christians trying to steamroll others with their own beliefs?

Thank you kindly.

I think the deal is that the majority of the usa that classifies themselves as religious classify themselves as Christians.

And the problem that the government is trying to tackle is that Christianity in general likes to instill it's outdated beliefs on our younger citizens.

The government is simply worried that kids will grow up not really learning about real science and not really learning about the powers of their own mind and therefore not really reaching their full potential because they end up growing up in a complacent (serve God, not yourself) and non productive world.

If the majority of the usa where Muslim and if being so rigid in their religion was a hindrance towards personal growth, then I think this thread would be about why the war against religion is only against Muslims.

But ... WHAT is "coming around"?

Christians being backed off of their never-ending attempts to enforce their religion on the rest of us?

That's not an attack, that's a defense.

I'm sick of reading threads by whining Christians, you love playing the victim card. Why should non believers give a dam about any of your kooky Beliefs. I don't expect my beliefs or non beliefs to be respected. Your more than welcome to challenge them, but I tend to keep them to myself, maybe try the same. Then you'd have nothing to whine about.

Ah the poor victim mentality. sorry Christians bring it on themselves with hatred and intolerance. Face it you've been duped. The "Jesus" you follow is the Devil himself.

Listen. This isn't rocket science.

There are religions that don't go around harassing people door to door,
lying that nonbelievers will spend eternity in a fiery pit. These religions
don't bother many people, including atheists, so they are not 'targeted'.

There is at least one religion, that has no sense of humor whatsoever,
and if someone picks on that religion, you wind up dead. So nobody
sane picks on that religion.

There is one religion, which kept the world in the dark ages for a
thousand years, which wiped out most of the indigenous population
of the world, burned down all the libraries and committed
unspeakable acts - but is somewhat behaving itself these days.

So the choices are:

1) pick on a relatively inoffensive bunch of people ---- nope, no reason to do that.

2) pick on a group of people who will kill you ---nope!

3) vent your frustration on the folks who kept the world in darkness
for a thousand years but who won't kill you? --- check!

There you go. It's that simple.

Kev

Oh, and then there's the crusades. I could list hundreds of thousands of articles that contradict what you are saying, but there's no need because everyone knows the Christians are the worst at pushing their beliefs onto others. Why don't you look in a mirror before you start to get angry at others for the exact same thing your "group" does. Pretty hypocritical IMO.

Wow what a hate filled rant. Christians are the worst? Do they cut throats and chop heads? Are they the ones who bomb, torture and murder each and every day? And yet you chose to cite thousand years old history to somehow connect that history in vindication of the murderers of today. Which of the crusades do you reference in your apologetic rant to excuse barbaric murderers of today? Wow----

This entire "war on Christianity" thing baffles me thoroughly. It's really more a "secular society is finally getting tired of religious fanatics dictating all aspects of life" thing. So-called Christians want to mandate compliance to their views, without exception... and any voice that resists?

It's taken as an attack.

I personally beg to differ about who is attacking entirely. I can't seem to find a single case of a secular person killing in the name of non-religion. But I can source a plethora of "God's soldiers" who have bombed abortion clinics, the Olympics, a Federal building housing a damned daycare center - as well as a number of shooting spree's... All done in the name of God.

Just who is waging the war?

Abortion clinics being bombed? and by Christians?

Quote
How prevalent is this form of American domestic terrorism? In recent years there have been round about 15,000 – 20,000 murders in total per year in the US. How many of these were of abortion providers?

Guess now. Scribble your answer down.

If you had asked me a few months ago I would have said three or four murders per year.

Considered over the last fifteen years I was overestimating somewhat. According to the best-known pro-abortion organisation in the US, NARAL Pro-Choice America,

Since 1993, seven clinic workers – including three doctors, two clinic employees, a clinic escort, and a security guard – have been murdered in the United States. Seventeen attempted murders have also occurred since 1991.

That figure comes from a document published in December 2007. So far as I know the figures have not changed since then.

However the phrasing “Since 1993 seven abortion clinic workers have been murdered in the United States” could be re-arranged, with equal truth, to say that “since 1998 no abortion clinic workers have been murdered in the United States.”
Unquote

www.samizdata.net...

And then you seem to assume that all anti abortion people are Christians? Are they? And if they are where is your source? I think you left out of your equation that there are many people who have no religion that are just as moral as religious people. You need not be a Christian to object to murder. So out of over 44,000,000 murdered babies you have about 19 murderers murdered. Wow that is really astounding.
