I am posting this for those who can view the video and the pictures contained therein. The video is of earth and it's cosmological place when viewed from space.

Thanks for sharing S&F

So much history from such a tiny blue dot in space.

Makes one wonder....

Reminds me of Whoville from 'Horton Hears a Who'.

"A person's a person, no matter how small."

Because, this is just a tiny pale blue dot, in the vast Universe around. Is precisely why we need to suffer, fight and why we cannot tolerate.

Life is fragely, it only exists here ... there is no one out ther, to come and save us. There is no god ... there is only ... this ... and being a small pale dot, the resources here are limited. Therefore, we need to fight over those resource ... fight for them. We need to subdue those, who do not want us to have what we need. We need to eliminate those, who want it all for themselves, as I need it.

This pale blue dot, is not a charity ball ... it's a brutal fight for survival.

That speech and that (the original) image that Voyager sent us is so, so humbling.

Everyone, I think, should once in a while take a minute or two to stare at The Pale Blue Dot.

Ever since I finally understood the scales of the universe, I've never lost perspective on how insignificant this rock we live on is in the grand scheme of the universe. This universe is ENORMOUS and our petty squabbles and the things we all fret over is just is inconsequential. Any action you do on this planet that doesn't involve getting off of this planet is insignificant no matter how big an impact on human society it has.

I stay away from facebook - but the "Sagan Series" sounds worthwhile enough to break my boycott.

Everyone should watch The Pale Blue Dot -- every day.

Maybe those still "asleep" would wake up.

It is my favorite video ----- and message ----- of all time.

BTW -- there are different video variations.

This is something I've never understood.

Earth is shown as a fraction of a pixel (0.12 pixel in size) against the vastness of space.

How can something be a fraction of a pixel? isn't the pixel the smallest thing in a picture with new information? shouldn't that fraction be the pixel than? Maybe I have a flawed understanding of what a pixel is or what they mean by a fraction of a pixel

I find this sad dinogirl that you got out of that video that humans are not anything special.

As far as we know we are unique, as you are unique within your own species, there is no one like you, there will never again be anyone just like you.

We have gone from throwing rocks at each other to creating machines where we now live in orbit around our planet.

I am an Earthling, I am a direct expression of my planet, all the good and bad.

Yes we have stumbled along the way, again and again, but we as a collective have the capacity to become much more than our worries and fears, we can become our hopes and dreams.

Acceptance of your humanity is at times not an easy action but rejecting humanity only feeds the horror many continue to find themselves trapped in around our little pale blue dot.

I wish you well.

I'm no photo expert, but I'm not sure that the voyager had a digital camera.

Don't know, but that tiny dot is our home. A tiny planet, in an insignificant solar system, in a huge galaxy, in a vast expensive universe.
