Footage of a supersonic "flying saucer" has been released by Nasa, as the agency attempts to find a process for landing heavier spacecraft on Mars.

The video of the spinning saucer, launched from Hawaii, shows it being shot 120,000ft into orbit by a giant balloon.

New space programme sending astronauts up maybe ?

The first 2 lines in your link,

To test a new technology for landing heavy payloads on Mars, NASA is about to drop a flying-saucer shaped vehicle from a helium balloon high above Earth's surface.

And its saucer shaped, not a saucer.
Your OP is a bit sensationalist dont you think?

No matter what you call it, I think it's very interesting.

It's these sorts of innovations that bring us one step closer to traveling the stars.

Just wished there was a big tech release like taking it to a new level , like super stealth or silent crafts , now that would be interesting

Looks more like a test of the balloon's slowing power at that speed and altitude than anything else. What am I missing?

It's only a matter of time until we see that sort of tech being announced to the public.

OP's only calling it the same as NASA does..AKA 'flying saucer'.
From the NASA news website,

"To test a new technology for landing heavy payloads on Mars, NASA is about to drop a flying-saucer shaped vehicle from a helium balloon high above Earth's surface."

NASA's only trying to be cool, and yus' won't let them.

Not a hoax, but a sensationalize headline to get people to read the article.

I was actually looking for a saucer to go by the camera until I read the article.

Interesting test though.

I would have read it anyway, I have been waiting for that test…

As it was I didn't know it was the mars reentry vehicle and almost missed it because of famous Nasa UFO hoaxes perp'd right here.

OP "poked fun", so did I.

You realise the original 1947 "flying saucers" weren't saucer shaped either?

One of the biggest misconceptions of ufology and IMO the biggest piece of evidence that most of them are a total myth.

No its not sensationalist. Didn't you see the '_____' marks around 'flying saucer' in the title? It's normally used as quotation marks within a quotation but the purpose should be recognizable. Maybe it's considered proper usage in a title as well as within a quotation, I don't know, but still the purpose should've been clear to whoever noticed them.

Then again maybe the op edited the title after complaints, I don't know.
