I here the word "feminist" used to describe people like that and frankly I think it fits.

Certainly in the modern context of feminism.

Jeez I wish the news guys would stop taking ad libs(not really adlibs maybe but attempts by the speaker to engage their audiences are not nessesarily the body of the speech...so why report that.......) out of political speeches and making like they are a big deal.....
It leads to threads such as this one where much ado is made out of inference rather than substance.....

I wholeheartedly agree with what the first lady said.........I say as my better half sits next to me watching what I type.

I'm certain women are smarter than men I am fully trained in the fine art of "Yes Dear". Specially when that part of the brain becomes involved called the hypothalamus.

That's right the woman is hmm smart-er.

I wonder what 'scientific' studies she'll 'fund' to get the evidence to support her claim?

Just the fact she said this, proves many things, except the one she's claiming.

The statement, made in any direction (women>men, men>women, etc) is a flawed generalization at best.

Neither as an entire group is superior in intelligence to the other. I've met some brilliant minds, and it makes no difference the gender. The exact same goes for people who have a severe lack of 'smarts' as well - there is no gender bias as the first 'lady' has claimed.

She certainly doesn't behave lady-like, does she? Rude is rude, and in no way is lady-like.

OK I'll go ahead and bite at this one.

In the setting (Africa) I honestly think she may be right, even here in the US, many African women seem to have more common sense than their counterparts.

Across all races actually, women score an average of 1-2points higher than men on IQ tests. And yes, I know IQ does not represent intelligence as a whole.

I personally believe women are better at qualitative reasoning, while men excel at quantitative reasoning, and I believe there are some very firm evolutionary reasons behind that.

On one hand. Not all women are smarter then men. I was no raised to believe one way or the other. But from experience. Most women are smarter then me.

Ignorance is displayed by those who fail to remember that division between class, race, religion, politics and yes, sex has always been promoted to keep the people divided and bickering amongst themselves.

She knew what she was doing, or failing that should at least know that her position in the limelight should caution her to say such a thing.
