Saudi Arabia tests first suspected Ebola case; outbreak worse than people know

So it turns out it wasn't Ebola in Saudi after all.
Nor was it Ebola in NY.
So hopefully this can still be contained in west Africa and its not worse than we thought.

One other thing about my initial response. The scenario being presented that I was addressing was in fact to have these guys go to Africa and become infected and then spread it so my response regarding that only addressed personal infection. I didn't entertain thoughts about other methods because that was not what the poster presented .

Yes, it definitely was jumping to conclusions LOL. Glad it turned out to be negative! Waiting to see what the results are for the case in Canada before I breathe a sigh of relief. One other interest to note is that neither the WHO or CDC updated their pages today....I was hoping for an Aug 10 update, to no avail. Will keep watching that with interest. My second sigh of relief will be when the numbers start dropping.

edit to add: The case in Canada claims the patient is starting to get better, so they feel very unlikely that it is ebola. Good news all around!

Yay. I feel the attention the situation has been getting will loosen some purse strings and with the additional support from outside West Africa will be able to get the situation back within their control. After which new research needs to be done to either develope a vaccine for residents of the area (optimal) or at least reestablish protocols for handling future outbreaks. If we don't learn from this I don't hold out much hope for the future of our species.
