According to documents leaked by WikiLeaks, Israel may have aided in the facilitation of Hamas' birth and early establishment.

The documents state that many Palestinian organisations perceived Israel to be directly supporting Hamas in its early days, through allowing its members the opportunity to undertake actions of which other organisations were not allowed. Such actions consisted of public interviews and the distribution of leaflets, among other things. The US stated at the time that while they believed it possible for Israel to be turning a blind eye in allowing Hamas the ability to undertake its actions, they had no evidence to confirm whether or not Israel was directly involved in supporting the organisation. Despite this, another document indicated that Israeli occupation officials were aware of Hamas, and its benefits in causing disagreements or conflict between itself and organisations allied with the PLO. Indeed, many Palestinians thought that such were the goals of the IDF.

You can access the documents on the WikiLeaks twitter account, as posted below. I won't post the extracts here, for obvious reasons.

Which is possibly why Hamas rockets have a tendency to be little more than big fireworks, rarely inflicting any serious damage.

It does allow Israel though to fire rockets back that level entire buildings. The current Israel escapades look just like another step in the ongoing land grab.

Obviously Hamas is not under the complete control of Israel but I wonder about the leadership or the way Hamas can get piddly rockets but not decent ones. Yes I know, they are home made but it does seem just a little one sided.

Sort of David and Goliath but with David's sling being confiscated or not on the allowed items list.

Agreed, just like I dont believe Israel is fully under the control of the Jews/Israelis. Whoever helped them establish a state militarily back in 48 when they had no weapons is where investigations should be directed. A layer above Zionism id say

They say that Hamas grew out of the Muslim Brotherhood but that some Palestinians claimed that Israel was responsible for Hamas anyway. ('89 part 3)
As they were associated with an influential group, the Muslim Brotherhood, they handed out leaflets and gave interviews without fear. The conclusion that was given in the leaked cable was that there was no evidence to support the claims made. ('88 part 20)

It's just a theory a few people had. This is the place for conspiracy theories, but the thread title "Israel facilitated the Birth of Hamas - WikiLeaks'" seems like a misrepresentation of what they said.

oh really? please go and tell that to the faces of all the families that lost people from these ''fireworks'' or better yet go and visit the graves of the 8 men who died from 1 of these ''fireworks'' (wasn't this current conflict but an earlier one).

before anyone starts calling me a ''Zionist'', I do not support either of these moron sides who keep ping ponging each other and getting civilians killed in the processes but for crying out loud stop pretending like these rockets don't kill people they do and they have and the only reason there aren't that many this time is Iron Dome.

''fireworks'' pff what a joke.

as for the documents there is nothing there except a big wall of text with ''many 'believe'' ''allegedly'', that doesn't mean it can't be true but there is 0 proof of anything in this ''leak''.

Shocking news that gives credit to the ongoing genocide operation.
“Concentrate” and “exterminate” .

This is not exactly new. It's been talked about for a lot of years around here, and if WikiLeaks actually has proof...score.

What are you complaining about? "Fireworks"? Have you actually calculated the number of innocent victims murdered by israeli military and criminal actions?

Just some late facts for you:

War crimes are committed daily:
- Bombing of UN nations facilitys protected by international law;
- third time in 10 days that a UN school had been hit.
- In all, seven UN schools have been attacked during the conflict.
source

Deliberate destruction, shelling and bombing of residential areas:

Bombing of the electrical power plant, destruction of the water distribution and swear systems;

Israeli as not only shell families in their homes, they shell people as they are running away and then are blamed of their own death.

Let’s put this in context:
- No nation will accept being imprisoned by land, by air and by sea.
- No nation will accept being starved, deprived of the most basic requirements of life, freedom of movement, clean water (90% of the water in gaza is not fit to drink) and medical supplies.
- In the last seven years, they have not only been occupied, but under a Israeli brutal and lethal siege. Then they came shell them, bomb them, destroy their homes, destroy entire neighborhoods, deliberated annihilate entire families and then they say is in self-defense.

The kids playing soccer at the beach, do you remember them also?
This is totally unacceptable, cruel and inhuman!

It would make sense. The Israelis killed Arafat because he eventually wanted a peaceful solution, this would not suit Israels ambitions. They need to be attacked to justify their actions and Hamas are doing their bit.

From 2001 up to today a grand total of 40 people have died from Hamas rockets and mortar attacks. So if the rockets were as dangerous as you act then the death count should have been much higher before the creation of the Iron Dome shouldn't it?
Btw usually five to ten people a year die from fireworks so he was wrong in calling Hamas's rockets fireworks because fireworks are more dangerous than the rockets Hamas employs.

Didn't I hear somewhere that the son of Hamas' leader, works for Israeli Intelligence?

If Hamas is an Israeli creation then Israel must be very thankful.

It's very nice of Hamas to keep firing rockets like a flag of discovery to mark their spot on the map of counter-battery fire. How confusing it must be, to see their benefactors kill them without so much as a thank you for their role, as Wikileaks would seem to describe it.

So everyone figures Hamas is just fine with being the lackeys of the Jewish leaders? That is what would have to be true for this report to hold water. The same Hamas leadership Israel kills whenever possible, like a lethal Where's Waldo? That is the same one supposedly owing their existence to the help of those they fight?

Crazy world. I just can't decide if events or how people try to understand them is the crazier part of it.

Of course Hamas is an Israeli creation. The Likud party created Hamas. Benjamin Netanyahell and his Nazi predecessor Ben Gurion are members of that Nazi party in Israel.

ah yes so because its 40 and not 4000 its nothing to worry about and makes it ok? not to mention the constant alert it puts people in of the possibility 1 of these things hits near you, luckily it is not a very accurate weapon and most people have shelter to hide in but that does not make it a firework or any less dangerous(people dying from their own stupidity doesn't count as dangerous).

it's good they don't have efficient weapons to kill more people 1 side killing thousands is too much already last thing we need is more people dying for blood thirsty leaders.
