I counted 14 Ebola threads on the ATS board before I got to the bottom of the page and it expanded. Yes it kills people and that's bad, but so do other diseases. I'm starting to wonder if this isn't just getting hyped up like the Bird flu was.

I guess this would be number 15 then.

Thats because there's lots of Ebola.

It could be the Governments scare mongering though, deliberately to keep us in a place of fear so that we are easier to control.

Most of the are full of fear and doom porn that has little relation to scientific fact.

Virtual ebola is spreading on ATS.....We need to Nuke the diseases and pandemics thread and hunker down in the off topic section for a few years.

Then why are you posting number 15?

From the threads that I am visiting, the overall concern is why Ebola infected people are being brought into the U.S. when there are other alternatives to providing the care that they need in the place where they contracted it or on Mercy ships.

I'm hardly an eater or spewer of "doom" but even I am concerned by the decision to bring a deadly active virus home to us all.

Haha I know what you mean!

FEMA camps!!! POTUS quarantine orders!!! Shoot down the plane carrying the victims to the US!!!
OMGZ The sky is falling in!!! I'm locking the door and loading my guns!!!

Mostly from neurotic US member doom porn paranoia types...they're even trying to polute the 'RAF plans to fly Brit victims back' thread with their scaremongering, it is almost amusing.
Such wasted and pointless fear from seriously troubled people who I wouldn't want around me if a sitation acually happened. Most appear as though they would fall to bits anyway without the need for a flesh-eating disease to help them along the way.

And to think these paranoid twerps do have loaded guns

Part of me just wants to stir them up and play around with there crazy paranoid minds but I know it will result in some poor mail man getting shot because he sneezed

Maybe they figure if they can import it into the U.S. and document a couple of cases of it spreading they can get the fear factor going all the quicker.

To be fair, bird flu when compared with Ebola, apart from being a very different kind of virus, with different symptomology, is a puny runt.

Ebola is quite literally, a disaster movie in a microscopic format.

There are lots of Ebola threads because it's a hot topic at the moment , it's a disease that scares people so easily exploitable for the media to raise the fear factor but until it mutates and becomes airborne infectious the chances of any of us catching it are very remote.

I've just seen one of the U.S news channels are live streaming the journey of the ambulance carrying the returned infected doctor to hospital , food for the fearful masses.

That pretty much sums it up because ATS hot topics are really only ever whatever happens to be a hot topic in the MSM.
Throw in the probably higher percentage of paranoid and neurotic people who are members of ATS then yes, there will always be loads of topics about the same subject sharing a common theme of doom porn and fear.

It is why I like reading things here, it reminds me how glad I am to not be such an emotional and irrational drama queen about things which haven't actually caused me any problems yet.
It is always good to have multi sources of what 'may' be happening in the world, but 'the sky is falling in because I saw it on MSM' is becoming a bit tiresome when it is repeated in so many similar threads.
Ah well, mildly amusing nonetheless.

*Edit*
I'm almost disappointed that the US is not in our Commonwealth because there would have been loads of threads 'seeing' satanic stuff in the opening night of the games now, and/or predicting false flag events out of a drunken fight outside a Glasgow chip shop or something

This is just the beginning. Wait till the panic starts when a person unconnected with the health industry in the US contracts ebola.

This could make 9/11 look trivial. The components are in place, the characters are rehearsed, the stage is set and the show is about to start.

I'm waiting for a new Ebola forum when it all gets a bit too silly, you know, like the 2012 forum.

This Ebola hysteria is just blown all out of proportion.

One of my more macabre hobbies is studying historical plagues and the diseases that caused them. In terms of gruesome and lethal, Ebola ranks up there although I'd still give the Black Death higher marks on gruesome, but in terms of virulence - Yellow Fever, hantavirus, any flu (Spanish, swine, avian), the Black Death, all are more virulent. Ebola isn't all that easy to catch casually whereas the others spread quickly and easily through casual contact.

IT'S IN MOROCCO NOW THOUGH, OMG!!!!!!!!
IT'S SPREADING: Liberian dies in Morocco of Ebola

Plenty of doom porn there methinks, OH NO'S let's block flights from Morocco!!!!!!!!!
More people should have a cup of tea instead of dumping their nervous system full of adrenaline about stuff they don't yet know is ever going to affect them.
Sharing information is of course a good thing, but keep the wetting ourself emotion out of it folks, that doesn't help anyone...least of all the neurotic and paranoid types on ATS who already struggle to get through daily life without 'seeing' symbols in a dog poo they may pass on the street.

There is one advantage to this.

We get to see on ATS who are paranoid clueless dimwitts and who has any resemblence of a working brain.
