Is a misconception to claim that ebola has been in the US when comparing an actually infected human to primates, or the virus in a test tube.

My daughter did her practice of cell stem research when she was a student at UGA, now she is a ER and Trauma center nurse in florida, when she was given the tour to the CDC facility, she was shown to her the different levels of security in the facility, the place where the incurable infectious diseases is housed is off limit to any personal that is not under a very specific level of security.

You know what that means right?

The first case of ebola from primate to human was in 1976 and it was not in the US, the only excuse given for the infection was the use of "infected needles" hardly an excuse per say as those that were doing the research were scientist and this was in Africa

I posted this information early in the thread.

Is no comparison.

But remember also Lucidity, that what we may have been shown on TV was not the actual route that was taken, it could have been a decoy to avoid any protest or else.

like you say it did look too careless.

Thanks for your reply. I understand they're closely monitoring the two coming into Atlanta. I was more concerned about infected asymptomatic passengers that passed airport screening. I wondered if symptoms could come on/get worse in flight.

When you have an infectious disease introduced into our nation's soil for the first time in history and not by accidental means, you should be aware, very aware and at the same time you should be vigilant of the agenda behind the whole case.

Been prepared, doing research and reading as much information as you can is not been paranoid, is just exercising caution and been smart about it, specially when is not cure and the infection is fast and fatal.

It is being paranoid...nothing you do, no "research", no "reading"...is helping anything. No one on this website has any effect on what is going on, no one on this website will be immune to an outbreak because they read about it, no one on this website has any clue what is going on...all you guys are doing is adding to the paranoia and the fear that you usually claim the media is responsible for. Honestly, it sounds like a bunch of children talking about monsters under their bed...all of them think they know exactly what they are talking about...none of them do.

Ebola has been on US soil for a long time in labs and now it is on US soil with two known infected patients who are being treated with precautions.

If an outbreak happens, it happens...nothing you do will stop it. If an outbreak happens, you are no more immune because you have done your "research", than anyone else.

Did you have something constructive to add, or just self-aggrandizing snark? Keep it on topic. If you have some credible research to discredit this thread, please post it.

There is nothing to "discredit"...two patients have been brought for treatment...end of story. There is absolutely nothing else to the story at this point except people getting and spreading their daily dose of doom porn.

What I have constructive to add to this thread is hopefully a bit of common sense and sanity...and no more paranoid speculation.

I imagine that pressure could affect certain diseases, it does gives me horrible headaches due to my chronic sinus problems, but we can only imagine the technology that is use today to deal with this, perhaps that is one of the reasons US took the infected people into our soil.

Perhaps you have nothing to learn from this new US stupidity, but In my case I have learn a lot, taking into consideration that until a few days ago all I knew about ebola was that it was incurable, fatal and only limited to Africa that is as far and away from us here as it can be.

Now is in our backyard, at least mine as I live in GA.

How about that.

Yet again, religion makes a bad situation even worse! From the OP's content, is this line

Local religious leaders are preaching against health workers, saying it is them spreading the disease.

What does that have anything to do with religion??? Because its preachers who claim that they are spreading the disease??

What a fail attempt

I guess you missed the phrase "Local RELIGIOUS LEADERS". They are preaching to their followers that the medical personnel there are spreading the disease (i.e. they are evil). Now, what, in your infinite wisdom would you think those followers are going to do if they get sick? They will NOT go to the medical personnel for treatment since they are being told to avoid them and treat them as evil spreaders of the death sickness. At this point we have people hiding and no chance at all of containing this nasty bug. It will continue to proliferate, in secret, out of control (as we are seeing now).

THAT is what religion has to do with my comment. If you cant see that, perhaps you are blinded by your own faith. Had these local religious leaders actually encouraged the sick to seek out the health workers and help them contain it, perhaps it would not be spreading as much as it is at the present time? Ya think that is more helpful a message to their followers?

Talk about EPIC FAIL....it's right there buddy...open your eyes.

I don't care what you THINK those preachers might do or say to their congregation. We are talking facts here. And if their opinion is that the virus was brought to them, then that's their opinion. Period. Again nothing to do with religion.

Ebola has been in the USA since the 70's A number of Cat 4 facility s in the USA have had Ebola and associated projects. What is the difference between a dozen pissed off infected lab monkeys or a single Human being?

This exact strain?

In a human?

In a human transfused with a survivor's blood in which the virus might already be on a path to further resistance or mutation?

I don't think so.

Now we have to worry about the illegals coming into the USA that could possibly be infected. They have documented illegals entering the USA from Ebola infected countries. Here's a Breitbart article:

A leaked intelligence analysis from the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) reveals the exact numbers of illegal immigrants entering and attempting to enter the U.S. from more than 75 different countries. The report was obtained by a trusted source within the CBP agency who leaked the document and spoke with Breitbart Texas on the condition of anonymity. The report is labeled as "Unclassified//For Official Use Only" and indicates that the data should be handled as "Sensitive But Unclassified (SBU)."

Also, a passenger at a London airport was reported sweating and vomiting before dying there. You might already know that a NIgerian doctor has been infected as well. Didn't read the whole thread, so if this is just old news I'm sorry.

I'm not confusing anything. My source may have mis-stated it and that may have led me to misunderstand something. I invite you to take that up with Stanford University. That is where the document I refer to is hosted for the world to find as the #1 Google result when typing "Spanish Flu Mortality Rate".

The effect of the influenza epidemic was so severe that the average life span in the US was depressed by 10 years. The influenza virus had a profound virulence, with a mortality rate at 2.5% compared to the previous influenza epidemics, which were less than 0.1%.
virus.stanford.edu

I hope that was helpful. It seems you may have missed more than one aspect of what I was trying to say though.

More OFF TOPIC:
I guess I must be an idiot then to think that the words of religious leaders have no link to religion.
Or, my brain just is not that warped to separate the two.

More ON TOPIC:
As someone who has been in a BL-2 room, and understand the rules and precautions needed for a BL-4 room, I am questioning the source of the information that claims these well known precautions are not being followed once the plane landed. If they are indeed true, then this is a complete breach of those rules and someone (or more) needs to be shown the door with their pink slip.

Have you seen the video of the alleged transfer? Or seen the pics in this thread? The alleged driver of the alleged ambulance was wearing only a mask.

(I say alleged because, as marg reminded me, we have doubts about whether this was real or a rehearsal or they were just plain old blowing smoke.

Also, this transfer could have stopped in a few more places and made a few more hops if they really tried hard. (That was sarcasm.)

That is why I question the sources and how the patient was handled. It is also why I said, "If they are indeed true"....since it was not clear to me that the report is the truth.
