These are kids, coming from desperate situations, and most of them (as I understand it) are from SOUTH of Mexico.

And there are MILLIONS of American kids living in 'desperate' situations right here.

Like most urban cities. Like Chicago, Detroit, and every other progressive utopia.

Where do they get to run to ?

That is if the parents actually decide to have them.

FYI, last I heard for every $1 that Texans pay in federal taxes, they get back $1.43 in federal dollars. Meanwhile, I live in NJ where we get about $0.88 in federal dollars for every dollar we send to the federal government.

Yeah, you're welcome you Texas Takers!

Nope. Wrong. Table of Federal Revenue and Spending by state clearly shows that both Texas and New Jersey pay in more than they get back.

I stand corrected! Last year, Texas did actually pay out more than it received. I still don't see how there's a plot by the Obama administration "to spend as much of its money as possible" because "he hates Texas?" Here's the historical data since Obama has been in office:

2013 - 0.79
2012 - 1.43
2011 - 1.48
2010 - 0.94
2009 - 1.09

A large chunk of that change is probably due to Rick Perry's refusal to expand Medicaid. I wonder how much that's going to end up costing Texans in the long run?

The problem is they're not "being processed". They're being released into the general public with no way of understanding what is happening to them after their release. Thais is not doing them any favors. Their lives are still left to fate. So child molesters, criminals and others can and are using these children - or at least there is potential for that. So they risk their lives in one hell - or so it's claimed - to end up in another.

Everything libs do is bassackwards. "Hey lets get rid of incandescent bulbs. They're causing global warming. Let's replace them with bulbs full of poisonous mercury." Now we have landfills piled with CFL bulbs. Really great solution to not only a problem that didn't exist, but now the solution is going to cause other major problems.

What I find funny in this entire situation is that the world has been beat over the head with how America is such a great charitable nation, it's people are compassionate, exceptional and it is a "shining city on a hill". They welcome the tired, weary and the huddled masses. It's a nation of immigrants that welcomes others to share in it's liberties and freedom from oppression. Even the lowliest of men could achieve the American dream with just a hard work ethic and the drive to succeed.

Sadly, we are no longer that America. We used to welcome people in to this country with open arms, but we slowly moved away from that and we began complaining that they were coming to take our jobs......and now we bitch about them coming to take our welfare.

It's people are no longer compassionate folk who welcome the tired and huddles masses. They are a nation of hypocrite illegal aliens that want to build a wall to protect what little they have left from future illegal immigrants.

They no longer look to the future with optimism. Instead they focus on fear and division.

It's quite sad that our grand experiment has failed. America will eventually fall because we have lost sight of what it means to be American. The ship is sinking....and some of the rats don't notice because they are too worried about protecting their piece of cheese.

Because they are mostly' minorities', and we all know who is the supposed 'savoir' of them,.

And are 'wards' of the state, feeding, clothing, educating, and they don't have to do anything for it.

Other than to vote for their 'savior's.

people used to come here and assimiliate; learn the language, get a job, and not get any benefits from the government.

Fewer would come if it were illegal for them to own property here (as in mexico for Americans) or get benefits.

No we didn't.

What a rose colored view of 'America'.

I suggest taking a good look at immigration LAW of the US.

Page Act of 1875

Chinese Exclusion Act

Immigration Act

Emergency Quota Act

Just looking for an answer to one question.

How is it possible out of Mexico, central and south america
combined. Many nations and not one of them, is able to forge
government that uses the example set by the country everyone
is flocking too? It isn't possible to have other nations become as
attractive as the one our forefathers made? Where would these
people go if the US sucked as bad as their country?

NOWHERE!

Randy I don't think I can give you an answer that can satisfy you however I can tell you what I have seen in those countries firsthand and share some observations with you that I made while traveling through them.

First let me say there are countries in Central America where the people do not wish to leave and on whole they are much happier than us they are also being effected by illegal immigrants. One such country would be considered as socialist the others would be comparable to the US but still a bit more socialist. As for Honduras let me say I don't blame anyone from trying to leave it makes Detroit look like paradise at least the parts I have seen. I had concerned citizens coming up to me telling me it wasn't safe for me to be there and those were the safe looking areas close to the embassy. The Islands like Rotan and Utila were different stories.

The countries that were in the worst shape seemed to be supplied with US military surplus which I noticed right away. Corporations had their hooks into them as well. In fact her is a bit of info to give you an idea of the power they have over countries there.

The Government of Honduras has signed a deal that would see a private company build a city from scratch ... a city with its own government, laws, courts, police and tax system. The hope is that it could become a shining example to inspire the rest of the country. Could it mean a return to colonialism in the country that helped coin the phrase "Banana Republic"? Could it turn a profit for Canada? www.cbc.ca...

What could possibly go wrong right.

The countries that seem to be in the worst shape historically have had the most dealings with the US. Is that a coincidence? I don't know.

The country doing the best IMO is Costa Rica they do not have a military but they have the largest police force per capita they get over 90% of their energy from renewable's and by conserving their rain forest Eco tourism brings in lots of money. Voting isn't just a privilege there it is the law so the government doesn't stagnate with one or two parties like here.

One other thing I noticed with the countries doing better is that people from other countries travel back and forth regularly to them "legally". There are a great deal of people with work visa's I have met many on bus trips traveling between countries.

Panama I had noticed has been effected by corporations as soon as you cross the border you can notice the change but still the people are much better of than places like Honduras.

I could go on and on about what I have seen but for Americans it is easy enough and cheap enough to travel there and see for yourself. I highly recommend it but I do advise all to adhere to travel warnings for the areas you visit. I got mugged twice in Honduras in broad daylight with a large group which also got mugged.

I live on a side of town that is predominately Italian. There is still an older generation around here that speak very little English, but they came to this country many years ago and worked their way through life.

You can probably find many places in America that is like that because that's what America is. We have different races, religions, languages etc.

But let's forget about that and continue to demonize a group of people that want to come to America and work for a better life....because they don't speak "our" language...right? We all know they are just coming here to get welfare and to steal land from us real Americans...right?

Please, this entire debate/discussion is hypocritical and insulting.

America was/is not just a nation of laws, Neo. There are many other things that used to make America THE greatest nation on the planet.

Sadly, we have lost that and some of you fail to recognize that because of politics or whatever.

I know there is no point in debating this with you. We will not agree on anything and you will not budge one bit. So it's pointless.

lol, since when do you care about others?

The law that was signed in 2008 is being enforced. This law allows for the granting of amnesty to many of these children, those not granted amnesty are deported

in reply to you listing a history of immigration restrictions; they're looked at as being motivated by bigotry, and in hindsight, not even necessary for the time they were enacted.

You're simply pulling the ladder up behind you.

That is right because i don't believe in hiding behind government to do what's 'right'.

I also do not believe in IGNORING the rule of law is 'best' for this country if it is then when does it end.

If people get to pick and choose what laws they don't 'like'.

Then let anarchy run supreme.

I hate to state the GD obvious here.

But IGNORING LAW, and throwing someone else's money at those who are deemed 'worthy'.

DOES NOT MEAN they care about others.

It just means they only see them as dollar signs, and they love outsourcing.

"Send me your poor"

How many poor are already here, that are actually citizens? How many of them have you put in your home or let live in your church? How many of these churches have Audio/Video systems worth tens of thousands of dollars? All of this "I'm religious so I believe in helping these illegal immigrants" crap is nonsense. Help people who are already here. Homeless people here in the U.S. are kicked out of 'tent cities' and parks where they sleep by police, not housed on military bases and fed...how do you not see the wrong in that?

Spare me your 'help the poor immigrants' statements until you are ready to help poor families who are actually citizens.

If you would come down from your ivory tower once in a while, you would recognize that the laws that you hold so dear are put in place by politicians that are bought and paid for by the corporations and that is the reason this country is in trouble.

It's not immigrants on welfare that are killing this nation, Neo. It's laws that allow corporations and banks to run free and strip this nation of every last cent it has. If they had not done that, we wouldn't be talking about immigration because in a thriving economy we would want to welcome as many people to the party as possible.

And let's be honest here. They are not coming to this nation to get welfare. They want a better life...period. It's those damn LAWS that give people welfare if they meet the requirements.

Like it or not, "They're coming". Obama will grant refugee status to all those living in Central America who seek to immigrate to the US. Like it or not, thousands of immigrants from other countries are now reported to be coming in at the same time, taking advantage of the overwhelmed border control systems. Last story I saw mentioned Chinese, Sri Lankans, Pakastani, etc.

Like it or not, the US has no effective immigration control; the border is all but entirely open to anyone who can get across.

So what's the real story here? That the Tea Party types fail to display charitable intent toward those who intentionally enter the US illegally? Hardly, there's nothing new in that. Thing is I know a lot of Tea Party types and I know how they think. Most were born in the 1950's and early 1960's and have long believed that this was "their" country. They still do. You can't move them off that dime for anything. They also think that because they were born here, they have a certain greater claim to citizenship than new arrivals, particularly those that break the law to enter the country. They think of the US as their "Homeland", failing to recognize that both political parties embraced an open borders policy in the era after WWII and codified it in the 1965 Immigration and Naturalization Reform Act of 1965 which was written by a committee that included Edward Kennedy.

So what's the big deal with this story?

"A town hall meeting held by Texas Tea Party state Rep. David Simpson (R) on Wednesday got heated as Simpson’s constituents railed at him for not doing more to stop the influx of unaccompanied, undocumented minors coming to the United States from Central and South America. "

He's a Tea Party state Rep addressing a Tea Party crowd and he says what? That's similar to a Neo Nazi giving a speech at the local synagogue praising Adolph Hitler. Simpson's a brick! Only a box-O-rocks would make those statements at that forum. And that's part of the problem with the Tea Party movement; so many of their candidates and elected officials are purely IQ impaired.
