Hope's Birthday Brings Veterans' Thanks

The Associated Press
Wednesday, May 28, 2003; 2:58 PM

LOS ANGELES - Bob Hope might need another century to be thanked by all the veterans who cherish the wisecracker's performances for U.S. troops.

From World War II to Desert Storm, Hope swaggered fearlessly through battle zones as if strolling the back nine of a golf course. As he turns 100 on Thursday, Hope remains the only civilian named an honorary veteran of the U.S. Armed Forces.

A class-act in every sense of the word.

Go Bob Hope! May you die in bed with a beautiful woman on top of you on her way down so you get a free stroke on the way up...
Just kidding.

Born in England!
Seriously, William - an excellent choice and, I guess, the last link with a very different past.

He is one of our better exports.
So much more pleasing to the eye than Foot and Mouth disease.
