Ah yes, the CCW, Concealed Cary Weapon permit. So advantageous to stopping those bad guys from mass murdering everyone aren't they?

As we all know, no one who ever legally purchases a gun can ever be a criminal, oh no, law abiding gun owner's the lot of them.

And we all know that CCW holders are the cream of the crop too!

Never ever would do anything to harm another person unless it was in self defense right?

Well...

That is unless you're:

Bart Johnson
Laquintta Turk
Michael McLendon
Kathy Lowe
Joshua Noel Jones
Carey H. Dyess
Jared Lee Loughner
William Phillips
Jeffrey Griffin Boyce
James Thomas Boll
Daniel Baker

Loads more here: www.vpc.org...

Oh yea, such law abiding citizens aren't they?

Remember folks, guns don't kill people, people with guns kill people.

And your specific point about how any barrel can have bad apples is quite true.
Why, shoot! (No pun intended), I could just as easily point to the political party in charge of administering law and order in these (still) united states and show malfeasance, criminality, misjustice and incompetency is rife among it.

Less than 100 deaths per year nationally? That is amazing! Millions of CCW holders and the numbers are that low! There have been 500 traffic deaths in my state just this summer to give some perspective. Better find some propaganda that is a little more scary because this just boosts my confidence in CCW holders.

People with bricks kill people.
People with knives kill people.
People with automobiles kill people.
People with baseball bats kill people.
People with hands kill people.

644 people in the last 7 years! The horror!!!

Reading the examples most are domestic disputes which means the means to the murder is a non-point and negligent discharges which means stupid people are offing themselves doing stupid things.

In short, if that's the best you got you got nothin'.

Epic fail op but nice try.

Let's talk about a real killer he never used a gun and killed hundreds if not thousands of lives with only a pair of scissors, can you guess who it is?

His name is Dr. Kermit Gosnell.

Thank you for proving in your OP that the ratio of responsible gun owners to those who actually commit crimes is vastly larger then I previously assumed....

Millions of legal responsible gun owners prove that responsible gun ownership helps instead of harms.......

again thank you

That's it? That's all you've got? A little over 1300 (all categories) killed by CCW holders.

How about this one, automobile deaths over a compatible period of time.

Wiki..

Cars don't kill people, people driving cars kill people. Let's outlaw cars right?

Or how about bee stings? Buffalo stampede deaths?

Kinda going to extremes with your OP. No one subset had perfect members, but statistically, you are barking up a wrong tree.

Here is hard Data: This is just a smattering of it.

The Texas Department of Public Safety published a list of crimes committed in Texas in 2011 by everyone convicted and by those convicted who also held CCL's. The bottom line: Concealed carry permit holders commit less than 1% of the crimes. If you want to be exact, they committed two tenths of one percent of the crimes in 2011. And not all of those involved firearms or violence.

The data show that 63,679 people were convicted of a long list of crimes. Of those 63 thousand, only 120 were CCL holders.

Source

As Table 3 shows, the average Texan is 5.3 times more likely to be arrested for the violent
crimes of murder, rape, robbery, and assault than the average CHL holder. The average Texan is
14 times more likely to be arrested for committing a non-violent crime.

Looking at violent crimes individually,
the average Texan is 1.3 times (rate of 5.2 v. 4.0) more
likely to be arrested for murder;
42 times (rate of 12 v. 0.3) more likely to be arrested for rape;
48 times (rate of 35 v. 0.7) more likely to be arrested for robbery;
2.2 times (rate of 121 v. 56) more likely to be arrested for aggravated assault;
and 7.6 times (rate of 507 v. 67) more likely to be
arrested for other assaults than the average CHL holder.

No Texas CHL holder was arrested for negligent manslaughter during the 1996 through 1999
period.

So given that Government Data, what exactly was your point? Statistically speaking, you are safer with a CCW person than an average citizen when it comes to crime.

Care to debate that??????

Guns are specifically designed to kill. They by design cannot in any way create, only destroy.

Why would a ccw holder shoot a open carry law abiding citizen?

Many people in my area open carry all the time and we never have problems.

Lucky for you, the vast majority of CCW holders know their Rights and the rights of others and the Law.

"Open carry zealot"????

No bias there, huh?

And I don't even own a gun.........

Ah, the tired and pointless "designed to".

I guess that means you're done then?

One more 20 page waste of a thread with post after post of "nuh-uh" followed by "ya-huh."

If you want your thread to remain above the countless others we've got the VPC's numbers, the report as presented, the relative rates of criminal action among various population groups.... lots of decent stuff.

But if dragging out "designed to" and effectively throwing the thread away is what you want, well, it's your thread.

What's next, "well regulated"?

ETA: You can even work on your "not let crazies get guns" thing you like to drag out over and over yet have failed to suggest one single method of accomplishing this. Loughner is your perfect case. So let's hear it. You've had months to work on your plan.

Why wish for harm and violence against people? People call gun owners irrational and violent but the most violent and hateful rhetoric and wishing for death seems to come from the anti-gun rights people.

I would want you to be safe and healthy as a fellow citizen.

Thats cute, but you have failed to address any of the other things members here have posted about the information you have provided.......

What do you have to say for the fact that your data further proves the fact that responsible gun owners are in such a negligible minority for gun crime, that more people are killed by lightening in a year then by registered responsible gun owners through the last 7 of this study?

Folks, just face facts.

There is a certain segment in society that wants to do away with freedom. It obviously scares them.

Personal responsibility? Absolutely terrifies them.

Just quit it. Cede all your freedoms and rights and suckle on the bossum of mama government. She will always take care of you. She will rid you of any onerous task of making decisions. She will clothe you, feed you, buy you things she thinks you should have.

Shhhhhhhh, now. (go to sleep. . . . . )

This foolish statement can be simply expressed in one simple sentence.

"So is a fly swatter"

Why don't you people spend this much effort putting criminals behind bars, and start in the White House.
