Great things about Canada that I know -

-Beautiful Rocky Mountains.
-Great (cold, but great) beaches.
-NORTHERN LIGHTS.
-Beer! Excellent beer.
-Appreciative of HOCKEY! (even though American teams
are better, Canada appreciates hockey more)

Rockies I've driven through. Truely breathtaking.
Beaches? Yeah but you have to wait until almost July to get into them. Unless you're on the West coast.
Northern Lights. I saw them for the first time 3 weeks ago. Amazing.
Beer? That's a given.
Hockey, that's Canadiana. BTW, over 60% of ALL players in the NHL are Canadian.

Gotta say this, I'm a Brit and I've never been to Canada but I always get the impression it's got it sussed and is a great place to live (that's not to dis other countries by comparison BTW). I'd love to go there one day but cost and my irrational fear of flying (8 hrs onplane????
) are conspiring against me.

I have family in the Lake District. Maybe we could work out an exchange program.

Ahhhhhh yes, but they play FOR American cities.
And we have STANLEY. In FLORIDA of all places!

Instead of Home Ice advantage, it was Home SLUSH advantage.
The word is that the ice would melt from the humidity 10 minutes
into each period.

(I heard that CBA is talking again. Doubt anything will come
of it. I think this year won't happen. Next year??? Dunno
about that either. The players are being greedy and killing
the game. Since you said 60% are Canadian ... guess that
means this lockout can be blamed MOSTLY on Canada!
)

Unless you side with the players. Betman is American.

Can't side with the players. The cost of tickets is
already outrageous. We go to the AHL games
which were not effected by the lockout, so we
still get to smell the ice, eat the nachos and fake
cheese (nothing like arena fake cheese!!), and
we still get to duck when pucks come flying at
us ...

BUT ... can't back the players. The cost is too much
as it is. This lockout is killing the game. All the
advertisers have gone away and they won't be
back anytime soon. DISASTER!

My 8 year old daughter was named 'Fan of the Game'
last week at the Philadelphia Phantoms game. She was
on the big screen, and won a prize. She was all smiles
for a week! My hubby was so proud! Every year on her
birthday she gets to ride the Zamboni. We arrange it
ahead of time. The AHL is still family friendly and fun ...
you afford it and can do the 'hockey fan' stuff that can't
be done (and can't be afforded) at the NHL level.

This lockout is killing the game! It'll be a looooooooooong
time before NHL hockey recovers.
