White flags appear mysteriously on top of the Brooklyn Bridge.

Well, if it is true about the bicyclists:
A) A bit of a let down, as far as a "bigger" message.
B) The statement I quoted in my first reply, makes that fellow that stated it look even more........ridiculous.

Really? A bicycle organization? I call BS on that explanation and tweet. First of all - they are not white flags. They are bleached American flags. That is a very clear message.

No way in hell some bicycle group did this to symbolize giving the bridge up to pedestrians. Me thinks a friend of the NYPD tweeted that out in order to take the heat off of them.

It has GOT to be more serious than that.

Wouldn't whoever did this be breaking some kind of law bleaching the flag??

Bicyclists....pfft. Nope. I am not buying what they're selling.

There is an other way to express something with the flag of a country..

A silent protest

I think someone just sold the bridge.

If you believe that, I have a bridge to sell you.

White flags belong to the new owner.

Looks to me like a faded old glory flag but perhaps it was meant to be white? I'm curious about the possible meaning.

This looks like a towel, too long to be an American flag. Note that even if it is bleached, the color in the field of stars is reversed. It looks like blue stars on a white background.
