Hey, thanks for looking at looking at this.

First word used from the Plaque appears to be Magni (great in Latin) so GEXTIHNIQ is the next part to work out.

tried translating the words to see if a sentence would appear but such luck

Great Malta 1924 Against Study Christian Teach Title Guided

Parts one and two all done, just need to now work out part three and how the heck (3,2,6) -> (12,1,7) is supposed to decode GEXTIHNIQ into a real word.. Given that the alphabet used has no U or J that would most likely be a real Roman word..??

If we use CthulhuRising's plaque and all the words seem to fit the puzzle than I guess:

(2,3,6) - (12,1,7)

Second line, third word, sixth letter is A. 12th line, first word, seventh letter is V

A = V (or 5)

Which brings me:

CEX TIH NIQ = XZS ODC IDL

Which really doesn't bring me any further......pfffff

I'm going to pull the plug on this project and hope somebody will be able to solve it because my wife is complaining that this wasn't how she had pictured how I would spend my holiday.....

Oh by the way, if you convert the letters CEX TIH NIQ to numbers using A=5 you come up with coordinates:

79 28.2413, 12 18.1321 since these aren't valid......hmmmm..nevermind.

Yeah I know, I should just let it go but something is bugging me about this picture...

- Why is it dated 1924 (MCMXXIV) when Jean de la Valette died in 1568?

I have tried to translate it and I think it reads something like:

"In this tomb lies Valletta, who in the name of christianity build a fortress for protection....etc"

Jean de la Vallette was buried in St. John's Co-Cathedral and not Our Lady of Victories church....

By the way, if I use the latin alphabet to convert a=v I end up with CEXTIHNIQ translating to CARPE DIEM.

If we take for granted that MACNI = MAGNI

And

abcdefghiklmnopqrstvxyz
vxyzabcdefghiklmnopqrst

(notice the lack of the letter "w" aswell)

Then GEXTIHNIQ becomes CARPEDIEM

Nice work. I too have been inconvienantly obsessed with this puzzle. My anniversary is in a few days, I got nothing planned.
