James Garner, Rockford Files star, dies aged 86

Another of my childhood heroes has died today it has been announced , he was the star of one of my all time favourite U.S shows when I was a kid .

Garner had suffered ill health since a severe stroke in 2008.
"Mr Garner died of natural causes," the West LA Division of the Los Angeles Police Department told the BBC, adding his body has been released to his family by a doctor.
Garner famously played laconic private investigator Jim Rockford.

Oh wow. He was one of my faves too. He always seemed to be just one degree over from cracking a joke or a smile and as I watched him perform I always waited for that to happen. I watched his face full of expression. Loved his voice too. RIP Jim Garner. Thanks for the great performances.
