A Staten Island man died Thursday after police placed him in a chokehold as they attempted to arrest him for selling untaxed cigarettes.
According to authorities, Eric Garner, 43, went into cardiac arrest and died at Richmond University Medical Center following the arrest that was filmed by several witnesses, the New York Daily News reported.

I work in one of the worst areas of NYC (Harlem) and have yet to be scared or intimidated by the police.
This man's death is unfortunate but at the same time, he was very large, belligerent and uncooperative.

The police departments need to revisit how people are secured during an arrest and would a simple summons be more appropriate than a physical arrest?
I know a few good cops so I still can't turn my back on them just as I cannot turn my back on different races for their reputations be they Italian, Black or Hispanic.
Poor judgement is part of who we are as human beings but as I mentioned, this all comes down to meaningful traing and supervision.
They are doing a job that a million other people take a test for each year so their job is not as amazing as some people would portray them to be.
