A progressive? I don't think I would completely fall in that category considering that I am all over the place when it comes to economics, politics and such. Lately I have been looking at what may be in store for Mankind in the future and I see a global economy, global currency, no borders and, well....a one world government.

I also think we will gravitate towards a global communist society in which all basic needs are provided. But we will have to wait and see what happens.

I only mean thinking with a progressive mind, looking forward, not stuck in "it's always been this way". Not the label political "Progressive".

Globalism is the only natural progression IMO. I say concern yourself with the How & Who --- not when, or if.

No one is going to take away local government, that doesn't even make sense.

What does make sense is Global, science, agriculture, environment, economy, education by ability rather then who's daddy can pay for it, etc.

I would definitely put myself in the socialist leaning Globalist category. Legitimate World Government. Not the conspiracy fueled NWO.

But didn't the Native Americans have many wars among themselves ?

Many long before any European influences came here.

What does that have to do with anything. Where did I say we didn't.

We fought like everyone did.

This is about people coming to this land and as the right would like for everyone to think..destroy your way of life.

And that makes me laugh. When they start to kill you off and force assimilation on you...then come cry about it.

Or we could end the war on drugs and turn off the cartels' main source of income.

Bingo .

But to them, that wouldn't make cents.

To you too.

If you can't tell me how to accomplish it, then you're just blowing hot air.

..to be honest I'm not sure exactly how..but, they can start by pulling troops & aid from overseas and militirizing our borders. That would deal with their human trafficking income. Peg cartels as "terrorist" organizations & treat them as they would any other "terrorist organizations"

Legalize marijuana nationwide. That would deal with a good chunk of their income.

Press their corrupt Govts to invest in better education for their people.

Those are just off the top. But you have to start somewhere, if nothing is done then the problem will just get worse & keep expanding north.

We are way beyond "putting more locks on the doors". People have got to start changing their thinking.

This is a global problem. It's happening in Europe as well. It isn't just the number of immigrants legal/illegal --- it's a clash of cultures.

There's also "grey flight". Seniors taking their money and retiring in less expensive foreign countries.

And why do we only focus on the southern border? That's racist/cultural. We have a very large open northern border too. We also have very large water access borders.

As I understand it, there's an escalation of drug running by boat. You can't put a fence across the ocean.

Yes you make good points and I agree with a lot of what youre saying. But I said start with southern borders cause the argument stemmed from focusing on Mexican drug cartels.

Now, dealing with borders on a global scale, is a whole different monster.

Once again I agree with some of the things you're saying. But greed & the lust for control will never allow this to happen. The only way I see this happening is once the restart button is pushed.

I am aware of the quote (and others):

“Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupt absolutely. Great men are almost always bad men, even when they exercise influence and not authority; still more when you superadd the tendency of the certainty of corruption by authority.”

Everybody likes to get as much power as circumstances allow, and nobody will vote for a self-denying ordinance.”

“For it is a most striking thing that the views of pure democracy...were almost entirely unrepresented in [the American] convention.”

But, unless you want to put machines in charge, or invite some "off planet being" to take charge --- you only have man (and woman)
