Its been shown many/most other presidents have issued executive orders and many have issued many more EO's than GWB and Obama, yet you think Obama is the only one to violate the constitution?

Perhaps its all the presidents who have issued a EO have violated the constitution?

Why single out Obama?

I pointed out that while past Presidents have issued more EO's than Obama, the EO's Obama have issued exceeded his authority.

EO's are not legislation and they are not laws (outside the executive branch). They cannot be used to replace congress, nor can they be used to augment / transfer / reduce / increase his over all authority.

The EO's Obama have issued making law / changing law are just as illegal and unconstitutional as the war powers act placing restrictions on the President and the use of military force.

When a President engages in an action, like issuing executive orders, its fair to compare those to other presidents. When one of those Presidents exceeds the limit that other Presidents have not, its not singeing him out.

That action was done by Obama himself.

Ridiculous comparison (not directed at you).

Those numbers decrease over time because previous Executive Orders are still in effect.

Obama isn't writing less of them... he's just running out of ideas on what new ones to write that haven't been written already.

Not every EO abides by the Constitution. Many of them have been challenged for that reason.

Obama's tend to step over the line more often than not, compared to past Presidents. When the Supreme Court unanimously refutes an EO by a President, that's a sign that the Executive is over-stepping its boundaries.

Obama has had Executive Orders unanimously opposed by the Supreme Court.

Before his presidency, only 2 had been overturned by the Supreme Court in the entire US history.

Sorry but i can't find any respect in this man.

Again, not true. MANY of the EOs Obama signed were written by previous presidents. It keeps them in effect for his presidency.

Well, he has managed to live through the destruction of both Death Stars. He thinks the inquisitions were just "tough love for heretics" and he has ethics that would raise eyebrows in the Court of Caligula. Something tells me holy water and a stake to the heart would not work either.

More importantly we need to find the person who said "Cheney Cheney Cheney" 3 times in a row to summon him back into the limelight. Maybe if we drew a pentagram on the ground and said "I summon thee" 3 times to hold him until we can figure out a way to send him back to the nether reaches.

Show me where this is not true instead of just waving your jedi hand and making it so.

How MANY of the EOs that he signed were carry overs? How MANY of all Executive Orders have to be re-signed into order by the next president? How MANY stay in effect until they are overwritten by Congress or challenged by law?

We need to be careful on this one because while its true he has signed EO's back into effect from other Presidents, he has also modified some. In my opinion, some he changed are on the "illegal / unconstitutional" side.

Thank you.

My point is that in the lists in those links, not every previous executive order is renewed.

The President has a list of EO's already in effect from previous administrations, PLUS whatever he adds during his administration.

The claim was that MANY of the EOs were carry over to keep them in effect.

Know how many were "reestablished"?

Three.

Extensions?

Two.

So while this comment is not for you, and is more for the Benevolent one above and their Benevolent one, it clearly shows that what they claimed in the post above is FALSE.

Towing the party line?

And how many of the executive orders issued by these other Presidents violated the Constitution?

Here is the updated list for EO's issued by Obama -

White House - Executive Orders Issued

If his EO's violate the Constitution then they can be struck down by the Supreme Court.

They have to be challenged and work their way through the Courts first.

He'll be out of office by the time they get there.

Fair enough.

2 of the worst administrations ever, back to back, doing pretty much the same stuff.

hmmm...no, probably not. A brief brushing up on history would say otherwise. Furthermore, saying this administration is anywhere near as bad as Bush's is just plain hyperbole

They can also be voted on and struck down by congress. So instead of the usual whining by congress why don't they get off their butts and vote on them?

Executive order

Congress has the power to overturn an executive order by passing legislation in conflict with it. Congress can also refuse to provide funding necessary to carry out certain policy measures contained with the order or to legitimize policy mechanisms. In the former, the president retains the power to veto such a decision; however, the Congress may override a veto with a two-thirds majority to end an executive order. It has been argued that a Congressional override of an executive order is a nearly impossible event due to the supermajority vote required and the fact that such a vote leaves individual lawmakers very vulnerable to political criticism.

So tell these whining little girls to grow a set of balls and vote to strike them down. Until they start doing their jobs they can just shut up.

Do you have a link for this? Or are you just doing that "jedi hand wave" thing?

The attribution to President Obama of fourteen executive orders (numbered between 10990 to 11921) in the example text reproduced above is way off base as well: not a single one of those orders was issued by President Obama. The first twelve orders in the list date to the administration of President John F. Kennedy in 1962, one dates to the administration of President Lyndon B. Johnson in 1966, and one dates to the administration of President Gerald R. Ford in 1976.
