flew directly on my chest my birthday night 7/13, picked it up like it wouldn't go anywhere.

I believe it is some sort of rhinoceros beetle

it has a purple hue now that i didn't see before.

it's a little over an inch maybe 2 inches long atm

we got a bunch of brown widows awhile back after some hurricanes.. they gone now

maybe there will be more soon.

kept a pet brown widow too

yep thats it exactly, i didn't find it on google just knowing rhinoceros myself, and the only wiki for it is in french

I came in here to correct you on the spelling of 'Genius", but instead, learnt something about bugs!
That is one peculiar-looking bug right there. I don't know why, but it reminds me of jewel bugs. You know, in some countries they jewel bugs. I've always found that so interesting. A beautiful jewel could be set in this bugs three horns. Either way, thanks for sharing
