Not all of them are subcutaneous. Snapper often get large (like the size of your thumb) parasites on their tongue and gills. Swordfish get huge (the thickness of your thumb and several feet long) parasites inside the muscle. I have seen salmon with encysted parasites (the size of peas) inside the flesh. I could go on but you would probably just eat bananas for the rest of your life.

Friggin nasty stuff. I stick to the oilier fish as they tend to get little to no parasites.
