We all know that the Obama administration has been very outspoken about giving massive financial and military weapons support to the "Syrian rebels". Now all those same "Syrian rebels" are joining up with ISIS, who will now have all the money and weapons our government sent over there. So guess who we're funding now?... ISIS! Nice move, Obama! *facepalm

An entire 1,000-strong rebel brigade based in Syria’s Idlib province has reportedly defected to the Islamic State group, raising new questions as to whether other factions will rally behind the militant force that has swept through Iraq’s west.

The Dawud Brigade, which was based in Sarmin and fell under the umbrella of the anti-government Sham Army, arrived in the northeastern city of Raqqa last weekend, the main headquarters for the Islamic State (IS) – previously known as the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS/ISIL).

There are militants all over the Middle East that are raising the black flag of ISIS. There are groups in Lebanon, Gaza and other places, too. There are reports that Hamas is getting nervous because the ISIS-affiliated groups don't think Hamas is doing enough against Israel. These groups may challenge Hamas for control of Gaza, and it's both Palestinian and Israelis Intel that are worried about this. When was the last time you heard of both those groups in agreement?

This ISIS thing is a strange bird, and it's growing.

Judging from the photo of them shooting the tank, they don't even know which way to face it when firing.....keep the frontal armor towards the enemy, every 10 year old video gamer would even know that.

Obama is dragging his feet and did not send enough support soon enough, that is why they are defecting.

To be fair, that is why Tanks have turrets! So you can turn to fire at the enemy without having to turn the whole damned tank, which costs fuel (which they may not have much of) and makes a right noise.

Anyhoo....

It's hardly news that a fundamentalist group like the Dawud Brigade (formerly part of the Islamic Front) would defect to ISIS - even though the Islamic Front is openly against ISIS, there have been divisions within the IF over whether this was correct. Nominally, the Islamic Front and the Free Syrian Army are allies against ISIS, so the IF could be seen as "moderate" and therefore "weak" to any die-hards, hence the defection of this brigade to ISIS

because with the right know how and the availability of HE in that part of the world, most would see it impossible to knock out a cold war era tank with more than a champagne bottle some scavenged HE and a copper disk. \ end sarcasm
