Instead of arguing over who is right and who is wrong, why don't we come together and suggest a realistic solution for the Israel-Palestine conflict? What is the best way to achieve long-lasting peace where the rights and freedoms of Israelis and Palestinians are both respected? An agreement where each side enjoys prosperity, peace and security for their people.

Suggestions such as "Israel should return all the land they stole" or "Palestinians should all be deported to neighbouring countries" are not realistic or helpful solutions. We need suggestions that ensure prosperity, peace and security (and freedom from oppression) for both peoples.

I still believe a Two State Solution is probably the best realistic suggestion so far. The major stumbling block, however, will be how contested areas such as Jerusalem are shared.

This conflict has the potential to escalate to concerning levels if a viable solution is not achieved in the near future.

Israel, Palestine, and Jerusalem and all the christian, mulsim, jewish holy sites to be ruled over by an international body comprised of equal amounts of scholars from the 3 religions, not politicians, not a single one of them.

But lets face it, the Zionists would do their best to sabotage any peace deal in order to justify taking over all the land as they have done for many years.

Build a giant wall around it . No one allowed in .. no one allowed out .. let them slaughter each other or learn to live together in peace without dragging the rest of the world into it .. to make it a fair fight for those inside give both the exact same weapons and equipment.

There won't be peace between the Palestinians and Israelis. How many times have they actually tried only to come out the other end dropping rockets and bombs on each other once again? There really isn't a solution to their issues, it's just a waste of thinking and time.

the solution is to stop pretending there is even a problem that justifies the actions of any of the parties involved

and educate the populace (with an emphasis on critical thinking) so they arent so easily manipulated and can actually see when they are being exploited for the benefit of relatively few individuals

maybe temporary regulations of global markets in the interim so those relatively few individuals cant sell out the rights to the entire countries natural resources leaving their people working for pennies a day to benefit foreign corporations preventing the country an people from developing in any meaningful ways (people generally are not so angry and short sighted when they arent living in a third world hell hole with little to no legitimate means of betterment)

maybe if the world chose a different reserve currency that didnt rely on the exchange of oil to maintain value

maybe we stop acting like our involvement is all about the middle east a relic from the cold war that our dinosaur politicians mistakenly think is still relevant (only way to beat the red menace and keep them subjugated is to have a workable staging area nearby)

The simple solution is this: erase the arbitrary borders created by people who had no concept of the ethnic and cultural implications of creating those borders. Allow those people to manage their own affairs, draw their own borders, and be the sovereign, self-governing states that they should be.

Can you fault 'em? Why change tactics when you're winning?

The Palestinians would never go for it anyway.

do like Obama is doing here...open the borders

and flood the land with 10's of millions of refugees from other parts of the ME...
I expect very soon there will be a massive migration by Jordanians, & those from Lebanon joining the mass exodus from Syria, Iraq going on now...escaping from ISIS

The US could simply defund the M.E. all together.
You cannot wage war if you cannot afford it.

Let's start by not electing extremists. Then we can stop trying to kill people. Then we can talk.

of course you can
its just a lot more personal and lot more brutal
as long as you can feed the troops you dont really need much of anything

until those countries are stable, can provide real jobs for most, and the populace is educated the warlords and religious leaders are going to be the only game in town and defunding is only going to give them more power
.....or thats what i would say if i didnt know most of the funding was going to bribes, sweet heart deals, waste, mismanagement, and used to prolong or instigate conflict

so yeah we should probably back off let everyone do their thing and then if real and imminent problems present themselves deal with them swiftly and with absolute prejudice (no more selling half measures for what might some day be a problem and creating real ones in the process)

There are heaps of small based community programs and projects going on for years working toward reconsideration. Maybe try a website that puts all these different resources over then internet into one place? Like a peace list, help consolidate some of the consensus about it. Perhaps to be fair about things also have a hate list to let those who are stuck in the fight let some anger out. It will be tricky to run and manage, could help measure just what is going on. In terms of building political pressure to get some reason into the politics it is one approach that comes to mind.

If the leadership thinks that it is bad for a Palestine and Jewish person to talk, then stop listening to them and talk anyway. They have not been able to sort out this problem so don't even listen to them.

As I've suggested in another thread, a massive UN peacekeeping force. The UN created this problem when they created Israel, let them deal with it. Have the peacekeepers stay there for two or three generations, if need be. Give them the authority to arrest anyone, from the leader of Hamas to the leader of Israel, on down the line. Have them enforce UN resolutions. Allow no more terrorism and no more retaliations. Install cameras on every street corner like London has. Allow no outside funding for either side that does not go openly and directly through the United Nations.

It would make more sense and probably more realistic to have the rest of the world stop fighting and killing each other .Then maybe they (Jews and Arabs) might feel guilt ed into peace .Lets set a good example for them to follow .

Great thread SnF u are obviously seeking a good solution and not a biased solution. That is the first step.

I don't have the full answer but I suspect the better and harder solution will need to incorporate the following.

1. Education. Ignorance is strong among the angry and violent. The more educated the population the more likely they will try to work out things civilly for their children and their future.

2. Children. Children are the answer. The hate and anger is passed down by generations that allows the cycle of hate and violence to continue. I recall a while back there was a small effort to get children involved in games from both sides to try to stop the generational hate that allows the cycle to continue.

2. Removal of existing proprietors that make money from the conflicts. NATO should enforce an embargo or enforce NO WEAPONS on either side.

3. Tolerance: They need to enforce separation of state and church. Create programs that teach coexistence and acceptance.

4. Collaboration between both parties. Meetings and communication between both parties should be held weekly. Dinner and events should be held to bring people together and promote tolerance and fun.

5. The basic necessities. Have NATO and America re direct their billions for buying and selling weapons to fix infrastructure , water, and provide basic shelter and food. People do desperate things and use scapegoat tactics when they don't have the basic necessities.

The other more likely undesirable ways for the violence to stop will be.

1. Total destruction and genocide: wipeout the culture , the people and start over again .

2. The other likely scenario could be total occupation from and external foreign entity.

Sad world we live in.

Israel needs to be made a democracy; An international state where anyone from anywhere can live. There shouldn't be any borders and people should be able to come and go as they please. The council overseeing Israel should be made up of many different people and religions instead of just one. For now, the land should be owned only by the new government. Everybody there has a say. They must surrender all nuclear weapons and latest military tech back to the USA. I'd like to see boat-loads of people from all over the world bussed in and live how they want, under zany religion they want. I mean, we are spreading democracy....rrrrRIGHT??? Come on Israel, it's time to leave communism and give democracy a chance!!! Everybody in Israel should be equal and have a say.

Oh, and the new Israeli govt. should issue arrest warrants for Nutnyahoo and all the other Zionists for war crimes and hang them in public.

This would be a start.

And they will get to write history as they see fit and paint themselves as triumphed and good . As they say history is written by the victors.

Maybe another alternative is to simply dismantle Israel and create a new country with the coordination of both sides.

I basically agree but your opening line is completely wrong. There is no solution possible that excludes any of the parties involved. The USA, with its influence, holds the key. Don't forget that GW Bush called Iraq II a Crusade. His daily briefings were couched in end-times dominionism, and his main military strategist essentially was the Holy Bible. Are we prepared for another Crusade? Don't forget, the last medieval Crusade was a march for the glory of God that sent children to their hideous slaughter. We must end our religious war.

I remember back in the early 90's when this was openly accepted by Arafat and others...Israel said no.

The plan even gave something like all but 4% of pre 67 borders back to Palestine along with a limited right of return.

Both sides said no.

I'm going through one helluva divorce right now and can attest to having one side making concessions while the other makes demands That make self determination and ssufficiency impossible. Wow...who knew my divorce was the Arab-Israeli conflict in a small scale?
